  1. Do we think DB just slides Samson over to top Center and maybe moves McGinn up a line to his wing? Then Bailey can play with Eichel again.
  2. Ha, just edited my post because I thought of this.. Now I fear that's the case and I'm bummed. I'll be at the game and also would love to see ROR get more national showcasing today on TV
  3. Sabres just recalled Bailey.. Don't know the corresponding move (Franson to IR?). Assuming he didn't get the call to sit, who gets the healthy scratch? Moulson? Delo? Edit: or maybe ROR is still sick.. That would suck
  4. Agree with others and the author that this last one seems unlikely. I don't see them moving any young blue liners for forwards. I will say, however, than attaining Rychel could provide immense entertainment value should he wind up on Eichel's wing. Eichel to Rychel for a goal? RJ and/or DD could have some fun with that one!
  5. I believe that's Jack in the preseason when he was still rocking 41. Maybe from the Ennis hat trick game?
  6. Thanks! As soon as i said it in my post, I set out to capture a screen grab. It was such a cool moment, really got me fired up at the game! By the way, I don't post much but I read every GDT. The recognition you've been getting lately from other regs is well deserved because they're great. Thanks for the creativity and humor
  7. Thanks, guys! That'll likely go down as the most memorable 3 goal loss I'll ever attend. It was awfully deflating to go down 4-0 on four even strength goals, especially some of them being tip jobs like they were. But Kane put the entire crowd on his back in the second. The place was pretty fired up for all three of his bouts, and his big grin and 2-0 gesture was awesome. Might have to find a picture of that and make it my avatar. Like I said, I wanted to see some exciting things from our core, I wanted to see Jagr, and a win would just be icing on the cake. The loss sucks, but I can't complain about seeing 11 goals and three fights. Jagr's goal was a beauty, Reino obviously scored twice, O'Reilly had some nifty passes and put on a puck handling clinic when he drew that tripping penalty, Risto dangled his way through traffic like he was Patrick Kane, and Eichel had some wow moments where he just showed off some speed and overall skating ability as a one man line. Kane's snipe was the nice too, the cherry on top of his hat trick. Also, how many people can say they've seen Mike Weber score in person!?!? A memorable one for sure
  8. I'm heading to the game tonight and I'm a little bummed to see the slew of guys ruled out, but I'm really there to see Eichel, ROR, Risto, Samson, Kane, Lehner.. The big guys! I've approached games this year with the mindset that the excitement of seeing them live and hearing the horn is the real draw, and a win would simply be gravy. Next year and years following, I'll be much more disappointed that my ticket money didn't go towards a win. I will say that it sucks missing Girgensons though. Also targeted tonight's game to see Jagr. I've never seen him live and would have regretted never doing so, even this late in his career. Enjoy the game, I know I will!
  9. I've read about the nickname in a couple different places. Sounds like the gist of it is that his family took in a lot of foster kids growing up, and at some point there were multiple Ryans. ROR's dad nicknamed him Snook to avoid confusion. The name was inspired by the Irish term for "mischievous kid." Here's one article that talks a little about it: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/juniors/king-oreilly-feature/
  10. Thanks for the welcome! I've been a longtime passive fan, dating back to the Drury/Briere days when I was 12 or 13. When I was younger I never fully appreciated the fundamentals and the general ins and outs of the game of hockey though. I focused more on MLB, NFL, and NBA. In the past year, year and a half maybe, hockey has slowly become my favorite of the bunch for a variety of reasons. Being a passive fan is out of character for me, so I've really tried to immerse myself in the game by watching all levels. It's a huge added bonus when I can catch a promising Sabres' prospect! I'm a UB student and I recently took in their game downtown at Buffalo RiverWorks. Outdoor hockey is awesome :w00t:
  11. Both his brother and sister, in fact. Here's an old article that details his family ties. An excerpt: I've been able to catch a couple Fasching games on TV this year and I've been very impressed, especially by his physicality and netfront presence. I am admittedly newer to the sport of hockey than most of you guys, so I won't make any proclamations about his overall game because I'm simply not qualified to. I've enjoyed seeing all of your thoughts on him. Just thought I'd say he seems like a great kid and I've loved seeing him succeed so far this year.
