  1. Wifi We moved this past weekend, and I haven't had internet until this morning. I had to go to Starbucks and steal their wifi last night to submit an assignment! But now I can look at Sabrespace from the comfort of my own toilet again.
  2. If there's an open spot or a waiting list, mark me down as interested. Last year I joined a dynasty league and drafted an epic team. Then the commish flaked and deleted the league after the year :( So I'd love to play with people I "know"
  3. The nut itself is pretty poisonous, actually! I think squirrels are the only creature that ingests it without consequence. Google says the health effects are: muscle weakness, paralysis, intestinal distress, and vomiting. Ironically, I suffer from similar symptoms whenever JT Barrett drops back to pass...
  4. I've got Flagg rooting for OU, and now Josie rocking a Michigan shirt?? Someone help this poor little OSU fan :P
  5. With some big guns on the DL too.. If they stay hot and introduce Miller back to the pen, Salazar back to the rotation, and Kip and Brantley back into the lineup, it could be another fun run in Ohio this fall. Although updates on Brantley don't sound encouraging at this point.
  6. But only the Yanks and Mets are shown on TV. If you're in WNY, I feel like you pick one of those unless you just want to be divergent. You won't get any of those teams you mentioned with a cable subscription (which is what most people grew up with, hence their fandom). I'm a Yankees fan because my dad is a Yankees fan because he grew up watching the Yankees
  7. TAMU led UCLA by 34 at one point today, and they held a 44-17 lead in the 4th quarter. UCLA won 45-44. Rosen had himself a day: 35/58, 491 yards, 4 TD, no turnovers. 3 UCLA receivers went over 100 yards. TAMU threw for 89 yards total.
  8. http://www.espn.com/fantasy/hockey/story/_/id/20518969/fantasy-hockey-top-250-dynasty-league-rankings-nhl ESPN released some dynasty fantasy rankings a few days ago.. McDavid, Matthews, Eichel. I know we all view him this highly, but it's neat to see a national outlet rank him wayyyy up there. Pay the man!
  9. Francois out for the season with a torn patellar tendon.. Huge blow for FSU.
  10. I buy OSU season tix since my wife is a grad student. I have a pair for each game. A friend of ours just sold his 2 OSU-OU tickets for $350. I really wanna go, but damn is that tempting to sell. I think the whole season was $550. I'll probably make my money back selling others and go next week.
  11. I'm no realtor, but I think I found you a new home, jeff
  12. I've mentioned before that I work for the Boy Scouts.. most of the year I'm doing boring fundraising and administrative stuff. But in the fall, I get to go into the schools and try to recruit kids. It's my favorite part of the job. Anyways, my general observations: K and 1st grade don't care about any differences. They seem to interchangeably be friends with everyone. By 2nd and 3rd, they still don't acknowledge any racial/religious/SES/etc differences. But now, god forbid a girl sit at the boy table (this makes my job much easier, actually). By 4th grade, I think that's when they start to become a little more "socially aware." In a bad way. They start dividing themselves a little more. Sometimes they're too cool to have a visitor sit with them at lunch. K and 1st grade are so entertaining to talk to. The questions they ask are beyond hilarious, and you literally cannot say anything without them relating it to some absurd story that they MUST tell you. The other day, a little girl looked me up and down twice, then proclaimed, "You're not a Boy Scout. You're a Mannnn Scout." If she wasn't in 1st grade, I might have thought she was hitting on me :P
  13. Butcher is only two months younger than Risto. I hadn't realized that until your comment nudged me to google their ages. Helps put Risto in perspective a bit- we're lucky to have a guy so established at such a young age.
  14. And Khalil Mack might be the best defensive player in the NFL. The Raiders got both Carr and Mack in the same draft. Talk about franchise-altering!
  15. I still don't buy that LeBron is gone.. but I also thought he would be a NJ Net, and then I thought he'd never come back to Cleveland.
  16. That Brooklyn pick is huge.. if the Cavs land a young stud on a rookie deal, that could keep their title window open as LeBron ages.
  17. One of my closest coworkers left our organization recently. It's not fantastic that she's gone, because I definitely miss having her around. But she absolutely needed out of this place. Didn't see eye to eye with her manager, and didn't enjoy the work she was doing. What is fantastic is this: she's enjoying life again. Another coworker grabbed lunch with her, and she was just full of life and wore a smile that had long been buried. I haven't seen her in person, but the change of tone in her texting is enough for me to tell that she's happier. And that's pretty cool!
  18. Jack Eichel's first hat trick... it's coming!
  19. Matthews lasted one practice with us before chip-fracturing his sternum.. ouch http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/20339487/jordan-matthews-buffalo-bills-week-week-chip-fracture-sternum
  20. I have really been putting off riding this year. First my excuse was legit (letting my ankle heal after break/surgery). But then the ankle excuse expired, so I finally brought the bike up from the basement. But my tires needed air after the winter in storage. Come to find out, the fine folks at my bike shop sold me a complete flat tire kit without including a presta valve adaptor. Helpful. Yesterday I finally bought the adaptor and filled up my tires. I know I pissed half the summer away already, but I'm ready to ride.
  21. We traded Sammy for a guy named EJ. Full circle, eh?
  22. My "team" would have talent, but the pieces wouldn't exactly fit together perfectly. I took 6 centers, and all my defensemen are left handed! Here's a shot: Skinner-Eichel-Seguin Wennberg-Kadri-Zibanejad - - - - - - - - Stepan - - - - - - - - Vlasic-Krug Klefbom-Yandle Bobravsky
  23. Sort of cruel when you think about the money. They destroy their bodies to prove themselves to teams, then have agents fight for every last penny. And in the end, how many of them will just use that money to pay for medical treatments, then leave a fortune behind when they die at 50?
  24. On a more serious note, it is harder for me to watch football these days. My wife studies traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. I cannot and will not ignore CTE studies. But I also can't stop watching football. It has always been one of my favorite things. If brings me together with my family, especially my dad. I have friends who I only keep in touch with over fantasy football. I base my schedule in the fall around Sunday afternoon games. But for the first time ever, I'm really disheartened watching it. Like I feel guilty. Football means a lot to me, but I guess maybe it is slowly meaning less. It makes me sad that something I love is stealing people's futures. But i won't miss watching a single Bills game for the 14th straight year. Cognitive dissonance re: football sucks.
