Lyon kept us in the game. It's his net to lose even if UPL is healthy.

Quinn is an anchor on any line he's on. He does nothing most nights.

Would be nice if Tage and Tuch got it together.

Mediocre results for a mediocre roster.

Montreal is probably what Adams wishes we were.

Anchors can be a good thing.  😬

I’m actually starting to believe the Sabres may have the horses to make a playoff run IF they could clear out ALL the coaches and GM. If we had a GM and coaching staff that actually knew what to do with this team, we might be closer than I originally thought. The sooner Adams, Ruff and company are gone, the better. Hopefully our mentally challenged owner wakes up sooner rather than later. But I wont hold my breath.

Montreal and Detroit have passed us in the rebuild phase. That is 100% on ownership, management and coaching.

How are the Rangers doing with Rempe?

I didn’t expect 2 wins.

Not sure what your point is. Are you suggesting that all the teams carrying a tough guy are doing worse because of that tough guy and would be doing better if they replaced that tough guy with what? a speedy little prospect?

and the Rags are ahead of us.

A 2-4 record is about what I expected from this roster at this point

maybe so, but you have to admit the last 3 games were much better than the first 3.

Exactly!  Why wasn’t Östlund in the lineup?  It’s not like Dunne or Geertsen help the team win.

Because Lindy Ruff is from the Ice age.

Absolutely terrible on the defensive side. They gave way too much space to their forwards for the first half of the game. Defensive zone giveaways (counted or not) killed them.

Seemed half the game one of two DMen were caught in the O-zone. Lucky that didn’t blow the game open for MTL.

Offensively I have one question. Do Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch still play for this team? Thompson had a couple good moments and Tuch was non existent in this game.

When the Sabres applied pressure MTL had glaring defensive breakdowns. Sabres couldn’t make that a regular thing because of pucks bouncing off their sticks or making off balance passes that killed plays.

Lyon again gave this team a chance and they ****** him.

Edit: I give Thompson credit for dropping the gloves. Second game in a row Dahlin was literally attacked. At some point Dahlin needs to fight back himself.

I'm new to this thread, has everyone already lost their minds over Owen Power's showing tonight?

No. His body positioning was decent. The entire team had terrible puck management. My only issue is he reverted back to playing like a fourth forward at times.

Thompson, I don't like he's not scoring but he is streaky. He ended up with 44 goals last year but had a 5 game goal-less streak 3 differen times through the season and at least 1 or 2 streaks where he didn't score for 4.

Sure, Tage and Tuch eventually might get back to their 'regular' form, and start scoring goals that cause you to tie a game like last night and get a point, or maybe even win it and get 2.  But....how far behind everyone else will you be by then?  Its still early, but they are already likely a 4 game win streak away from 'getting to' that LAST playoff spot.

Seriously, winning the next 3 games gets them to 10 points in 9 games played...which is a pace for 91 points for the year, that probably doesn't get you to the playoffs.  If they win their next 4 in a row, they are at 12 points in 10 games...a 98 point pace that probably does.

Its WAY too early to have to be thinking of 4 game win streaks just to get into 'probable' playoff position.

Oh ***** you haven't heard? Geertsen protects our guys and helps them play tougher. He's some sort of magical unicorn who sucks at basically every aspect of nhl hockey but he's big and will drop the gloves so that makes us tough and hard to play against. Never mind he can't win puck battles, gets almost 0 ice time, and barely hits anyone because he's a lumbering turd. He's big! He might fight! Other teams fear him!

I'm seriously starting to question Tuch and what he supposedly brings. We're 6 games in and I can't remember 1 play of his that was like "oh yea he's good". Maybe defensively he's been decent? Offensively, plays die on his stick and he doesn't win battles at anything close to an impressive rate.

I'd trade Owen Power. I'd trade Jack Quinn. Maybe I'll regret that stance but Power doesn't play hockey in a style I like and Quinn seems incapable of recovering from his injury or playing at a better level.

I still want to, and do have patience with Power.  I just know that it seems like too many D-men in the league...you look up and say "yeah, that guy is pretty darn good" but it took to age 24 or 25 to get there.

Quinn I was done with last year. He is showing nothing. Even if he put in 20-24 goals this year, its not good enough with his black hole of play in every other way.

And my opinion on Tuch is the same as it has been for the last 2 months: short term extension I'm OK with.  But something like $10million at 8 years...heck no.  The team still needs the chance to add some talent, or if you get a young guy that is legit good, to lock THEM up. I don't want a guy starting his new contract in his early 30's to take so much money that it prevents either of those things.

I enjoy Chad D’s stuff, and he is right on Norris (in my view they should not have traded for him, let alone relied on him to be their #1C). But I think his comments on McLeod and Krebs are an overreaction. The focus should be on the GM, HC, and coaching staff. I understand the desire we have as fans to assess the skills and attributes of players, but outside of the very obvious (Geertsen, Bryson), there is just no way to properly assess what a player is in an environment so poorly constructed and so inadequately structured.

Except Adams would've convinced ownership that Suzuki and Slafovsky aren't important components of the team and should be traded, and the goaltending is much too stable.

McLeod can bounce between 3rd and 2nd line, but he is a 3rd liner.

Krebs is a 4C, no better than Kozak, just with a higher draft pedigree.

There are two center prospects - Östlund and Helenius.  Östlund should have been playing last night.

This teams center spine has been a problem since we traded Eichel.

He looked pretty terrible most of last night, and almost had a goal so i'd say thats a pretty spot on analysis.

He played ok against Florida, but in this one he's just missing passes, passing misses, i don't even know, but the puck off his stick didn't go to anyone but montreal players.
