Taro T Posted Thursday at 11:10 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:10 PM Umm, are they really rolling the dice on him regaining his form from several years ago? Don't understand this one at all. Quote
Taro T Posted Thursday at 11:14 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:14 PM Well, we DID want Adams to address GT. Not sure which multiverse we have to be in for THIS move to meet THAT definition. And, what are the odds of OUR luck placing us in that 1 in every 14 million or so variants that this does meet that definition? Quote
Pimlach Posted Thursday at 11:17 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:17 PM Isn't he a guy we beat with regularity? Quote

He's the guy who's last sighting in an Avs uni gave the Sabres a 4-1 lead in the Dahlin breaks to start the 3rd, there goes the season game. He was pretty much on the next plane to SJ after that little debacle. 1 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted Thursday at 11:21 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:21 PM (edited) This is a very interesting signing. This guy has played great in the NHL on occasion but also terrible. What does this say about their faith in Levi, Lyon and UPL? Not sure. Last season UPL played 55, Georgiev 49 and Lyons 30. Should be an interesting camp battle. And guess the signing makes sense to a degree from a well, having another cheap lottery ticket never hurts point of view. But, not sure that a day old cheap lottery ticket purchase makes any sense. Yes, it only has 1 less chance of winning than that "fresh" lottery ticket has, but that 1 additional chance makes a huge difference in the value of each. Quote

dudacek Posted Thursday at 11:43 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:43 PM I mean, I guess it makes sense from the perspective of we now have 4 “NHL” goalies, which can’t be a bad thing in terms of depth. It gives us the flexibility to trade somebody if need be, and less concern in Rochester if someone gets hurt. And the depth chart works the way @Brawndo spells it out. Quote

pastajoe Posted Thursday at 11:47 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:47 PM There was a time when I wanted the Sabres to acquire him from the Rangers to be their starter. But his game has really fell off over the past couple of years. 1 Quote
dudacek Posted Thursday at 11:48 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:48 PM (edited) Doesn’t change the fact that Georgiev isn’t good and doesn’t really have the temperament of an AHL backup. I also kinda wonder why he signed here to be a #4? Best contract offer? Thinks the other 3 don’t offer much competition? This was definitely the last news I thought I’d be reading today. They didn’t have to waive anyone in that scenario. Now they are essentially guaranteed to be waiving a veteran… unless they carry UPL, Lyon, and Georgiev, which is clearly not happening. I’m a bit surprised it didn’t happen as a PTO, but I’m really not all that concerned about it. Quote
dudacek Posted yesterday at 12:18 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:18 AM I suspect the market showed no one else was signing Georgiev to an NHL contract to be a backup, so chances are good he will clear. Quote
nfreeman Posted yesterday at 12:41 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:41 AM Kinda seems like an insurance policy against Lyon being a complete washout, understanding that Lyon himself is an insurance policy against a 2nd year of UPL crashing and burning. Quote

Yeah, still not fully getting this move. Guess Adams is thinking what better way to clear up 3 ???'s at G than by adding a 4th? Quote
