  1. A lot of ranger fans seemed to like the guy 🤷‍♂️
  2. Couple of the defenders i could see with the Sabres. Johnson, Novikov, and potentially Metsa. However, the glut of last pairing defenseman the sabres have will probably prevent any of them from getting a real look this year. As far as the forwards go, I dont think anyone is ready to be promoted (aside from occasional injury callups). Closest are rosen and Östlund. Edit: forgot kozak. Hes ready for a full time 4th line spot probably Goalie... levi
  3. Imo, they are marginally better after these moves. The big areas of improvement are coming from lyon and kesselring. Barring massive injury issues in our forwards, I think the scoring won't fall off precipitously. While defense and goaltending are improved with lyon and kesselring (with or without a bridge deal for byram). Even though they appear marginally improved on paper, it may be a paper tiger. The possibility of it blowing up in their face with a bunch of injury issues in the forward group though seems pretty high. Bunch of guys in our group that miss half the season yearly. Here's hoping those guys are all past it
  4. looks like a left handed puck mover/third pairing guy? the kevyn adams specialty
  5. Glad to see it. Entering next year with just Levi and upl would have been a major mistake
  6. Sign me up for that
  7. Who goes out for the season first? Quinn, Norris, Greenway, or Sammie?
  8. twitter official. reading the replies has provided some entertainment. so thank you Sabres
  9. I saw that earlier. Cringeworthy, aside from Jerry Forton's Oscar worthy performance
  10. Kesselring feels like the type of player that people have been clamoring for. He fills a need for the Sabres. It's likely his worth to the Sabres specifically is greater than JJ's to the Sabres. However, I still feel like this return is underwhelming unless Doan ends up sticking and not just being a fourth line plug
  11. Im not going to overreact to this one until exact details of a trade become available. Byram for a late first is a bad trade. Hopefully they would be getting more for him than that
  12. I agree, I think they should trade Peterka. Given his ability on the powerplay is not great and his defense is also not great... I agree with @dudacek that there is a certain jeff skinner ish element to his game. Trading him now might be the best thing for both the team and player. If he goes somewhere with a coach that can get him to buy in on defense, he stands to improve a lot and make the sabres look silly. However, if he stays in buffalo and it is more of the same (likely with no change of coach), I'm not sure that's a player that you want to hitch yourself to long term with a massive contract. You should be getting a really good return for Peterka, so look for a trade that can either substantially improve our defense, our goalie situation, and/or our powerplay. If you can fix at least one of those things immediately with this trade, it should be a no brainer

  14. not in love with the fact that he is reporting to KA instead of TP. but nevertheless happy they found someone willing to do all the thinking for KA
  15. Amerks had a good year. I know thats not what people want to hear because they have their issues with the Sabres. But that was a successful season I do have one thing to say regarding the playoffs though. The Noah Östlund disappearing act in the playoffs hurt them bad. After that first stretch where he was figuring out the north American game, he was roughly a point per game player. They needed this guy to show up and he didn't. I know he had less opportunities bc of kulich, but you have to do more than 2 assists in 8ish games
  16. Watch helenius stare down the laval players after the shorty 😂
  17. He would be a great fit on the Sabres. We have a lot of shooters and someone that can create some space would help support those guys. And he is great defensively. It just feels like a pipe dream. Hope they still try to get him though
  18. I'll add that the argument he is making about the Amerks (i.e. team balance etc.) isn't something that would show up in game highlights anyway
  19. Are you actually watching Amerks games or just saying these things based on what happens with the sabres? Serious question Edit: just to be clear, I'm not saying this to be rude. I think the amerks did a better job of building an all around roster than they have in years past, as @DarthEbriate outlined in the post above. But also, your earlier comment about them not being able to build rosters at either level was kind of wild to me. The amerks have done pretty well the last few years
  20. Was at the game last night. Amerks controlled play and deserved to win. Even though they were down at one point (3-2), it didn't feel out of reach. They got production from their big guns and that will have to continue if they are going to win the series. Agree on rosen looking great. During each intermission, the jumbotron cut to the team in the tunnel. Every time they did, rosen was the one going around the room and giving fist bumps. Disregard his points and he still played a great game. Lots of chances Östlund looked to be primarily playing wing. Not sure how comfortable he is there. Probably got moved over when kulich came down. Was a chippy game. Stuff going on after every whistle. This team can play that sort of game though. They rose to the occasion
  21. Seems like a silly thing to say in a thread discussing Amerks playoff hockey
  22. Too much faith is put in UPL based on one portion of a good season. Aside from one portion of one year (a contract year at that).. he's been pretty bad. Letting UPL continue as a number one is a hope based strategy. You hope that he plays better than he historically has...
