Pretty much a fail on day 1. We all understand free agency is not a good time to add players. But TP and by extension KA continue to do what they do well to keep this team irrelevant and pretty much a clown show. Just give us some hope for once will ya.

Florida wins the Cup unless Carolina gets Ehlers, but that still may not be enough. Detroit will take the 8 spot with the Rangers jumping back in the top 8. Buffalo will finish 14,15 or 16 in the East. Dahlin and Tuch are gone end of next year and the teardown begins again.

I wasn’t expecting much today.  For anyone thinking Ehlers was going to sign here right now you really need to look in the mirror.

The thing I can’t wait for though is the next time Adams lies through his teeth saying there is absolutely no financial constraints on him.

I would rather a day like this than Adams getting stupid and trading Helenuis for Rust. I wonder how Byram will shake out.

I think if we hadn’t known about Lyon ahead of time it would are a little feel good. It’s about what I expected today but was holding out hope 

I think what we can expect is

1. a trade of Byram for a top 6 forward while signing a decent d to play with Dahlin 

2. Trade Byram for futures and sign a decent forward and decent d

3. re-up Byram and sign a decent top g lw/c

anything less makes no sense unless they’re tanking

Lyon is...meh. I'm sure he'll be fine like Anderson & Reimer before him.

I'm glad they re-upped MacLeod. He's a good, speedy two-way 3C. If he can contribute 45-50 points, that'd be great.

Danforth is probably a 4th line upgrade on Lafferty who was useless.

Letting JBD walk after he played reasonably well is ***** dumb, but not surprising for KA.

Don't see anything that makes us much better.

Still a lot of runway until the season starts, so I suppose more moves could be coming but nothing to be overly optimistic about today.

Every year I do this to myself.  I slam six shots of hopium on July 1 because THIS IS THE YEAR we return to being a legit NHL franchise again.  
 

Trade JJP?  I wouldn’t have done it, but five mil in savings toward getting someone even BETTER. A big fish! The Sabres aren’t even fishing in NHL waters. Again.

Welfare Christmas is back in Buffalo!

As everyone else is opening up and showing off their shiney new players, we sit here with our new socks and underwear telling ourselves our gifts are better and more practical......

At least they didn't overpay for player 'X'! In a few years they won't be as good and it would end up blocking player 'Y' from coming up, gotta make sure the franchises finances staying in good standings because everyone knows the real champions are the ones that have balanced books over some big silver cup!

Most likely he will get one decent player at a need position, but not nearly the value that anyone else would have expected them to be able to get for a player like Byram

It's looking more like they plan to just keep him for now.  Market will re-materialize later when players get hurt.

Don't think Ehlers would make a difference. Barring a season of unexpected major injuries (which can happen) I can't see anybody beating Florida as is.

Yes, Geertsen isn’t making any NHL squad. He didn’t even play every game and is an AHL player and nothing more!

You are probably spot on. Now everyone can wait for Adams much anticipated press conference telling us he had conversations with certain garbage players and their agents. Then he will tell everyone that he had talked with other GM’s but nothing was coming together for a Bryam trade. Why not try to resign him if no teams is offering anything that can help them now.

I almost feel like Terry is gunning for one of those sweetheart deals Alex Meruelo got when he was leaned on (politely forced) to sell the Coyotes. He bought them in 2019 for $300M and made $1B in proceeds from the sale in 2024. A 333% return in 5 years. Terry bought the Sabres in 2011 for $189M. Sabres are believed to be valued at $1.1B, but we all know there’s people out there with deeper pockets. And, yes, the would relocate. Remember, the Utah deal sort of came out of nowhere.

Ehlers was noticeably bad in the playoffs. I watched every game
