Imagine how different NHL drafts would be if the players were 20yr olds.

Probably.

My post was mostly a dig at Kevyn Adams, as I believe he couldn’t draft Mario Lemieux if he had the ten first picks in the 1984 entry draft.

By any chance, were any of them "flies on the wall" during the last NFL draft so they could not just get to use the Bills war room but see how the people in it used it?

Expecting the answer is 'no' but hoping that they were.

Adams has been in the Bills Draft Room the first night of the draft the past few years

He's going to draft D in the first for sure then, or trade out of the round.

@Brawndo you can be our mole in the draft room and whisper @LGR4GM draft suggestions to those in the room making the selections. If caught, do what an accomplished spy would do i.e deny, deny and continue to deny. If that doesn’t work just spill the beans and blame @Pimlach for the espionage plot. He’s expendable.

Will Bills management be drafting for them too?

LOL, so funny. So tell me, what Adams pick is a bust? Helenius? Östlund? Peterka? Benson? Kulich?

"What an advantage for us to have an NFL war room right at our fingertips."

So... bigger screens and comfier chairs?

What did you do last year? Watch TSN DraftCentre and NHL Network on laptops? Use a polycom and cell phones for intra-team conversations?

Like, in previous years y'all sat at the same table and went over to talk to other GMs, then submitted a pick and went and walked up and announced it.

You know what's more important? Scouting. Spending on quality scouts. Having good voices in the room. Listening to them.  Having a plan. Not trading a 6th to move back one year and 25 picks for another 6th when the other team is trading "up". Spending to the cap and knowing how to build a team and a prospect pool.

The war room is just a location. Maybe it gives you confidence? And if that's what you need to have a good draft, then I say ###'# ###### #### ###-#### ########### ##### ###.

But his draft picks are pretty good. Ironic, huh?

No, it’s formulaic.

It’s hard enough to make up any ground at all with excellent drafting. Pretty good is barely value gained, relatively. You can’t draft your way out of it.

To be fair, peterka is the only one we are 100% certain is a top 6 forward. The rest is still speculative

To be fair, that's true of every GM, right? BTW, Adams traded up to grab JJ in the 2nd round. So you're not sold on Benson and Kulich?

They are speculative still. Just bc I'm hopeful and relatively confident in them doesn't make them a guarantee.

Being a good GM is more than drafting high upside prospects. That's usually a give. It's using draft capital and highly thought of prospects to obtain middle 6 players. (Not middle 6 players that are middle 6 players on a non playoff team/see sabres).

Additionally, it also knowing when to go after FA'S on the 'wrong' side of 30 to slide up and down your top 3 lines/top 4 D.

Adams has drafted upside prospects. He even parlayed a prospect into a middle 6 winger.

All to the tune of a bottom 1/3 team. He has simply not been aggressive enough and in the right way. Their record is very clear on this.

We haven't even discussed goalies yet...

Yes, I know all of Adams flaws. But that comment about him not being able to draft a Mario Lemieux with 10 picks was just a forced dumb thing to say.

Why are people making a big deal out of this, your opinions on the player being drafted have been cemented, all u doing when your pick comes up is who is better player a better fit for your team, not to mention talking trade to a team, and all of this can be done in a dark small closet as long as u have phone service. The meaning is whether u are in a huge space or a small space the outcome will be the same because your gm and scouting staff will make the same decision

Lol. I guess the poster was going for effect. Yes, Adams isn't that bad.

Yet that comment got a like.

I appreciate the fairness of your posts and that you don't have an irrational zeal to be angry at everything the franchise does.
