Sabres website has this info:

https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/purchase-buffalo-sabres-global-series-travel-packages-prague-czechia-munich-germany

“Victory Travel & Events has two packages available, both of which include game tickets, airfare, hotel stays, daily breakfast, local experiences, access to an exclusive Sabres event, a commemorative Sabres gift, and more. The packages are:

Prague Trip (Premium Package) – Starting at $3,999 per person

More information and reserve here

Includes tickets to the two regular-season games in Prague on Oct. 4 and 5, economy flights, a six-night hotel stay in Prague, ground transportation, access to an exclusive Sabres event, a Prague dinner cruise, and more.” The other package includes the game in Munich.

I was in Prague last month. Very inexpensive, a dinner for two around $15. No need for car, public transport is plentiful. Must visit the 15th century old Prague area. Most people under 40 speak English. If using cash, they prefer Czech crowns to Euros or Dollars. You have to pay to use public toilets, around 30-50 cents. Public showers which they have at tram stations costs $2.

Dunleavy and Ray aren't going.

Feckin' cheapskate organization.

How much more money is it to send a skeleton broadcast crew?

This is a question Adams needs to answer.  Hopefully Hammy or other journalists who glean this site for ideas reads this and asks it to Kev directly.

Fear not. Alan Pergament from the remnants of The Buffalo News is all over it.

We're at a point where a journalist (?) publishes a piece in which it's stated: "I'm being told."

In this case I don't think its being cheap; I think its just standard practice for the international games.

I suppose that's possible. It's certainly what Alan Pergament was being told.

The NFL has a couple of games in Germany this season. I wonder if those teams sending their broadcasters.

Detroit sent a full contingent when they went to Sweden last season -- including their broadcast team.

Detroit has that Little Caesars pizza money to pay for it. Terry isn’t going to drill another well for the Sabres.

Is anybody going to the Sabres and Devils matchups in Prague?  Any recommendations for visiting Prague?  Does anybody know of Sabres related events during the lead up to the game?

Thanks in advance!

I have a friend who's going. Part of a tour group.

Sure.

At this point, my gripe is more with Pergament who accepted at face value a representation that it's standard for NHL teams not to send their home broadcast crew for season opening games in Europe.

And it looks like several NHL teams have sent their home broadcast crew to Europe.

The Sabres won't -- at least not in 2024.

Did the Sabres send their broadcast team when they went over and got waxed twice by the Lightning?

No, RJ did one game from 716 to which I went to and even got a handshake and hug from the late great announcer. (6 people in a row hugged him and I guess he just got into a rhythm because I hadn't intended to lol)

Good intell. So the Pegulas have been cheap about this since at least as far back as 2019. (Although, in 2019, RJ probably didn't want to go either.)

12 days in Europe for 2 back-to-back games?

I understand the need to acclimate, but 12 days?   They're missing out on valuable pre-season games with a new coaching staff.

6 days is probably more than enough... and besides, the games are at 1p and 10a ET, what exactly are they acclimating to?

Eh, they're getting a 3rd preseason game.  And pretty sure the league is mandating some PR junkets out of the whole thing.

Presonally would prefer they weren't going on this trip; but the league in its "infinite wisdom" 😒 decided they'd go over the pond.

Are the Devils there already?

Having gone to Prague last month I can tell you it took us 3 days to get our bodies acclimated to being 6 hours ahead.

My take is Pergament’s wording was a veiled shot at the message from the team, not an acceptance at face value.

Sure. And perhaps he wishes that journalistic standards had eroded to a point where he could insert an -eye roll- emoji to show his incredulity.

But he doesn't - or at least shouldn't - get off that easy. Why not do some gumshoeing to show that what he was told is BS?

I noodled around for less than 10 minutes and found internet bread crumbs belying what the team had told him.
