I'm actually fine with this! A players coach who does not take any BS! He also knows how to not only win but gets the most out of his players. Now as others have stated, getting the right staff will be vital. I believe that with the talent assembled, this team is geared for an open, offensive game.

We also need to pick the right Captain, or bring one in.

Here are what I feel should be the main focus regarding Lindy's supporting cast of coaches:

PP Specialist
Faceoff Specialist
PK Specialist
CLEARING THE PUCK OUT OF YOUR OWN ZONE SPECIALIST!!

What's his record since leaving Buffalo?

1 division title and 3 playoff teams in 8 years.

In Dallas 165-122-41; in NJ 128-125-28.

Not great, but better than the last 3 coaches here.

This feels like an incredibly short-sighted, “claw your way into the playoffs; worry about the rest later” hire.

I could cry. Cry from happiness.

Sabres are back.

To me it feels like a PR hire, not a hockey hire.

Feelings aside… Ruff is a Hockey Man… an attribute in short supply in the Sabres organization…

did the work - it’s an 88 point pace over 82

but it’s really a tale of 2 Lindys.

There’s been 8 seasons: his teams have averaged 99 points per, the 5 seasons they’ve had a winning record.

they’ve averaged 70 points the other 3

“When you think of the Buffalo Sabres, you know, such a huge part of that is Lindy Ruff. You know, obviously we knew he was available at the end of the season and then when we moved on from Donnie that was one of the first calls I made. We know what he brings to this organization and we’re confident he’s the man to lead this team back to the playoffs.” -Kevyn, probably.

Just read Fariburn's rundown of the candidates and walked away almost certain it's going to be Lindy.

Adams had a plan in place and 4 watchwords: experienced, structured, accountable, immediately available.

Of the candidates he listed: Woodcraft and Evason aren't that experienced, Boudreau and Gallant aren't that structured, Brind'Amour and Quenville (probably, for well-known reasons) aren't immediately available.

That leaves Ruff and Berube.

I don't know of any connection between Kevyn and Berube, or anything to feed the sense that he's a target Kevyn feels he can speak about with the kind of directness and certainty that Kevyn used yesterday.

Lindy, on the other hand, is someone he knows well and has worked together with.

Lindy is also someone who can not only fire up the players, he can fire up a moribund fan base.

He's also won with youngsters and plays the uptempo style Adams prefers.

What has Kevyn preached from day one? Passion for the jersey and for the city, people who want to be here and to win for the people of Buffalo.

Nobody epitomizes the Adams checklist like Lindy Ruff, it's not even close.

It's coming.

Even a broken clock....

With the talent here, he should do better. Easily.

I am afraid if this fails yet again, it will tarnish his history as Sabres coach and the club goes another season of no playoffs.

I'll take it further:  If Lindy fails, the franchise will implode.  Complete teardown to the studs, new electricity, new plumbing.  Endless tanks, cats and dogs living together.... ugh.

He's not wrong either. Lindy gives me full faith in that. It's up to Adams to get us the assets to fill in the blanks to get us a cup.

I'm very elated Lindy is back.
