Rasmus Dahlin, paces over an 82 game frame:

20 goals, 70 assists, 90 points (tech. 91), 109 PIM, +33

A 90 point d-man.

A lady byng...will not be in his future.

But he will rack up over 100 penalty minutes inflicting pain on the other team as a rugged franchise D-man with a mean streak.

The penalty minutes are fun because for a finesse player, it's reflective of detriment. Dahlin is simply depositing some value for later in an 82 game season.

We got That guy on D

Generational

When they make films about true stories, A-list actors play the common folk

When they cast for Victor Hedman in a Hollywood movie, they'll cast Rasmus Dahlin

oh good

this was the game he "wasn't likely" to play so, guess he was a bit ahead of schedule, probably healed even more by Monday

edit - led the D in PP time. Looked like while easing him in they still looked to capitalize on the raw skill. did pay off with the assist

And not a second shorthanded. Ramp him back up so he can go 25+ in the Isles game.

Defensive play matters.

Amen to that P T  R, funny how much different the team looks with Dahlin vs without

We have seen flashes of great play from all 3 Goaltenders IMO. This team keeps coming together and showing growth.

In a series they could be tough to beat IMO.

Not sure if Dahlin will play Monday.  Looked like he was labouring today

He is coming back from a small concussion. He can only go so far until his head feels like it’s going to explode so they took them off the ice late.

I don't think he sits Monday but maybe.

edit you may not have been implying that, though

if concussion symptoms are increasing as a game goes on, he very assuredly shouldn't be playing at all

Aaaaaand there's the loss.

The early posts in this thread are always entertaining.

I  heard someone on WGR radio this past week state the Sabres were something like 37 points out of a playoff spot at this point last year.

But why keep things in perspective ?  Goalie and D issues still present and yet here we are.

Really?   I did not know that and he said himself he was out due to a lingering problem.

He should not play at all if he has a concussion.

Don't start a fight when your team has no fighters! The Sabres have no answer against physical teams. It's a preview of playoff hockey. If you can't handle the rough stuff, then your team is in trouble. Hopefully, Kevyn Adams has realized that this team can be bullied. He even said so. It's time to add more toughness. At least 4 players are needed who can stand up to teams like Boston, TB, and others.

I think the answer was “Tampa 3, Buffalo 5”

Apologies if someone already made note of it: Thompson registered his 40th assist on Quinn’s goal, first time to that mark

Tonight he also moved into a tie with Jack Eichel for most points by a Sabre since Danny Briere put up 95 in 2007. It’s the 3rd most points by a Sabre in 25 years.

His next goal ties him with Thomas Vanek for the most goals in a season by a Sabre not named Mogilny, Lafontaine, Gare, Martin or Perreault.

We are watching some all-time stuff this year.

No. I was more of the 15 min and no SH today, 20 min and maybe a tiny bit of SH Monday, full-Dahlin on Tuesday with the Isles. Note: It's a back to back and one game is worth a ton more in the standings than the other.

Comrie wasn’t the difference, but easily his best game since October.

Mule looked a helluvalot more like himself as well, and that may have been Lyubushkin’s best game.

Glad to see he’s shaken off whatever was plaguing him in the first half.

***** Tampa. The tide is turning.

Amazing what great goaltending does for this team. Just wish we had it more consistently. Maybe Comrie is turning the corner. We can hope right.

Even more amazing, in a sense, is what just good goaltending can do. If Comrie could play like he did today (.917 sv%), good, on a consistent basis, we’d actually have a good goalie on our hands. Problem is he’s almost always sub 900. Not a coincidence that his stats today reflect everyone’s eye test. They often do
