I don't know...maybe because he was limping on the replay and reported to be "limping" by the reporter? A few people already commented on that observation. Just a strange reaction to a wrist injury. Every other sport seems to give proper designations, hockey is like “Here are these totally ambiguous terms, go figure it out”. I agree with this, though I'll add the Sabres have been much more vague about these things than the crappy team that lives where I do Edited December 9, 2021 by Thorny

To the best of my knowledge his injury was never defined further than “upper body” and the wrist part was fan speculation. Granted, how does limping result from an upper body injury?

I think he was the first do declare upper/lower body injury.

Were they just watching? Question to defense coaches. In my opinion, we play too softly. Players don't know how and when to hit, perhaps don't ready physically and mentally. And maybe that's why we have so many injuries... Edited December 9, 2021 by Berg

Can a groin injury be called either upper or lower body injury? I guess it really doesn't matter, the only thing we know is it's going to be a while before he's back.

Those athlete hernias (they have a shorthand name - can't recall it) - like the one Briere had - are in the abdominal region, I believe, and that would be upper body (above the waist).

I tried all of the non-surgical remedies and they provided temporary relief, but never resolved the issue. I had the surgery and it worked. If Mitts indeed has this injury, we are not likely to see him for a few months.

There is also a *groin pull* which is inner thigh. Which would be lower body (?). No idea which (if any) of these he has.

Until this stuff came up, I always thought the “upper body injury” he suffered in he opener was a broken hand/wrist based upon the slash and length of time he was out. clearly, the team deceived its fan base in addition to opponents. Par for the course😡

Kruppstahl
LOL; I said yesterday (at another forum) that "seeing specialist" means consulting surgeon; surgery likely; will miss the season. He'll be out for weeks and weeks, but it's early so maybe not the season.
Sabres Fan in NS
What kind of surgery? He got slashed in the wrist or something, but was also limping. Berg
Rangers tried to make another IR for Sabres when they hit Skinner and many others. Frankly, I don't want 9 million player on IR same as any other our guy...
