How Many 20+ Goal Scorers Will Sabres Have Next Year?

Assuming no big trades, I can see a bunch of players that could hit that mark.

Jack, Sam, Ollie, R2, Casey, Tage, Asplund (he had seven this year in under half a season) Skinner? and Bjork

Thats nine players with possible 20 goal potential. That’s good! Even if only five hit that mark, that’s pretty good. Of course injuries, ice time and just simple set backs happen. If Casey, Jack, Sam and Ollie stay healthy I’m sure that’s at least four players right there who will most likely break the 20 goal mark.

Say what hat you want, but there is potential here for a really good team.

Who will be the coach? What will his system be? Will the lines have chemistry? Who will be traded? Who will be brought in? Who will be the goaltending duo? Will players miss significant time with injury? Will any have a significant goal scoring slump? Will any partake in slump busting?

If I can get those answers, I can probably predict with any level of accuracy if any player will reach 20+ goals.

1 Donny G

2 Same as end of this season

3 Yes

4 No one

5 No one --maybe the top pick

6 Well, since I have a crystal ball 😇Ullmark resigned, Halak brought in, and by some miracle Sabastian Cossa makes it to Sabres second rough pick and we nab him.

7 Yes, Casey will have a back issue and miss 10 games, Ollie will break a finger and miss 11 games but Jeff Skinner will play every game!

8 Oh yes, Sam will start off slow again, but he will be fine

9 Not sure what this is 😐

Seriously?

Jack won’t be here, Sam won’t be here, Victor won’t get 12 on the PP thanks to Jack, trading Jack removes all hope of Skinner ever scoring 20 again, Asplund and Bjork aren’t good enough to ever score 20 in the NHL.

Tage and R2 might find it in them, (under the Weave/PA principle of how garbage fills a hockey vacuum) but I can’t say they’ve shown enough to bet on it; they’ve scarcely proven themselves NHL regulars.

Casey’s a long shot too, but at least he has the hands and showed he can create on his own in a prominent role.

If we trade Jack and Sam for futures, this team is going to struggle to score goals next year.

From this group, the only one I see possibly scoring 20 for the Sabres next year is Casey.

You are being exceedingly pessimistic. If Granato is retained and his fast paced style of play is installed I can see at least 4 to 5 players reaching the 20 goal mark. Of course the assumption is that our top two players aren't dealt. With Jack back to full health and form there should be a lot more PP goals that should be generated and provide other players with stats.

Okay. But his (big) assumption was with no big trades. I'm not as big on VO as many. Still see him a PP specialist. Also see him as part of a trade possibly.

If Jack and Sam stay, they will each get 20-plus. Victor probably will too.

There is also a chance for Skinner and Casey, but I suspect 15 will be more likely.

I really hope both Jack and Sam stay. Seems odds against it though.

Way too early to say.   We might not  have Jack or Sam.  We might have other players.

Mitts, Tage and Olofsson could all hit 20 in the right circumstance.

If absolutely everything goes right...

if the stars align...

in a best case scenario...

if luck is on our side...

forsaking any injuries...

if the young guns take the next step...

if the old dogs can keep up...

every offseason the following season is dependant on gypsy fortune tellers and the magic 8 ball. Take the mystery out of the equation and build a team damn it.

I’m not so sure Asplund doesn’t have the ability to pot 20 in his best season. I wouldn’t count on it but I’m not writing it off.

Wasn't he leading Liiga in goals before coming over this year?

He sure looks like a natural goal scorer, great shot, finds the soft spot in the defense. He is a good player and goal scorer, at least so far.

Kyle? He really did look better under Donny G. Not sure he pots 20 again though

Darkhorse candidate for 21-22.

My list is more of a "I hope this happens" and not "I think this will happen" because without hope what's the point of being a fan?

Sam is a given.  Skinner and VO if Jack returns, but VO only is Sam is the 1st line center instead.  Casey also.  If we do trade Jack or Same, the RW we get back will also score 20.

Not if we trade for a players like Sobotka and Berglund.

The emerging wingers are Thompson and Cozens.  Not Skinner.

I hope we keep our best prospective centre at centre, myself
