I second this request.

Not getting it is the spice of life.

On another note, Legwand might be my new favorite last name.

You are one sick and slightly demented mind, and that's funny, Leg Wand.... he, he he, he he he....

If I was a porn star that would be my name.....LegWand  (insert sarcasm emicon now)

@BNHarrington: GMTM said Tyler Ennis raved about playing with ROR while with Team Canada at the World Championships. #Sabres

I wish WGR or one of the news stations could grab a Sabres player, whose been here for much of the "suffering" such as Ennis or Weber and ask them what they are feeling now. The fans are thrilled. We embraced the tank and it's coming full circle but i have to think that guys like Ennis, Weber and even to a lesser extend Moulson gotta be thinking they're on cloud 9 right now.

Didn't they just get one yesterday?

See below. I believe ROR was traded for with the express purpose of being his future right winger

Pretty sure the response would be "F*** Yeah!!", at least off the record

I was thinking today that Murray likely told Moulson and Gionta and Gorges that pretty much this is what he was going to do. He wouldn't publicly say this, but I think this was his plan all along. To get rid of everyone, get McEichel and make a couple of blockbusters for proven big name guys who fit his idea of players, like Kane.

There's a school of thought that states RoR is a pure capitalist for sale to the highest bidder.

I'm not so certain, and I'm pretty sure Tim Murray agrees with me.

As near as I can figure, the contract issues that clouded his stay in Colorado may not exist here.

O'Reilly is a hyper competitive individual who believes he is a first-line player and wants to be the go-to guy.

Colorado told him they loved him but consistently ranked him behind Duchene on their depth chart and in their payroll.

It didn't help that the Avs have been a budget team, and that Duchene is signed to an artificially low deal.

The Sabres are not a budget team and their coach has already declared RoR his number one centre. They showed him a lot of respect by they price they paid to get him. Terry Pegula will amplify that with his personal welcome. It's not so much about the cash as it is the ego. It's swagger and it's pride and it is common with elite athletes. O'Reilly thinks of himself as Bergeron or Kopitar. Show him you agree by paying him at that level and he will be here for a long time.

If eight years $60 million sound hard to swallow, think of what we paid Thomas Vanek eight years ago and ask yourself which type of player and person has a better chance of winning you a Stanley Cup?

ROR gives you guys one of the best if not the best C lineup in the league. You can't win without quality centermen. If ROR re-signs, Buffalo wins the trade...if he doesn't, they paid dearly.

Your GM is smart enough to know that he has to surround his superstar with quality players and he is doing it.

You should mention to him that we can trade you Buff and Stuart to help with your D.

That's true for the upcoming season, but after that? He's likely/hopefully the 4th best player on the team. Not that that's a bad thing, but if he's looking to be the go to guy, he has to know when signing this contract that he's not going to be that guy for us.

I think fans in all team sports often misinterpret contract demands as players being mercenaries and money grubbing selfish bastards. Some of them surely are. But money is the only way sports measures players against other players. A ton of it is ego and respect. If you offer a contract less than another player it's not that he has a million more dollars than me as much as you think that guy is better than me and he's not. Someone else will pay me more because they know I am better. It's bragging rights, or more accurately "worth" almost as much as actual money.

Eichel is the only one I see ending up clearly better than O'Reilly with any real certainty. Reinhart has a good chance to be better, but I don't think the gap is going to be especially large. Kane should score more goals, but overall player quality I don't see him separating.

Edit: Of course include the caveat here that I wish O'Reilly were my son :p

I have never heard he is anything other than a good teammate, and I don't think he will have any problem being Hawerchuk to Eichel's Lafontaine.

Besides, the contract is going to lock him up for so long it won't be an issue.

I'm not saying he's not a good teammate, but you post seemed to imply that he wasn't getting the respect he feels he deserves in Colorado as he was stuck behind Duchene and IMO he should know he'll be stuck behind Eichel and probably Reinhart on the center depth chart. Maybe he just feels that he is better than Duchene and has no problem conceding his spot to someone he himself views as a better player.

When you climb Everest and pronounce your unrequited love for Ryan O'Reilly, then, we can be friends.

I'll do that if you get Regier and Stafford staring into each other's eyes tattooed on your ass  :flirt:

1) I think he'd be right in that belief.

2) I have a confession to make

I don't know if there was any "I'm better than Duchene" going on.

Maybe more like "just because you got lucky was his contract doesn't mean you have to disrespect me with mine."

Analysis of O'Reilly and McGinn from the writers at Mile High Hockey:

2. Much has been made of his multi-year contract demand saga. Is O'Reilly a problem off the ice that Sabres fans should worry about, or will this all go away if Terry Pegula opens up his checkbook?

O'Reilly had been a perfect gentleman through his entire tenure with the Avalanche. He appears to be a good teammate, gives sincere interviews, and has been a model member of the community. This is what's made the ordeal so difficult for fans: there's such a disconnect between his public perception and what has transpired behind-the-scenes in negotiations. I'm not sure a contract changes anything as far as fans are concerned, because it was really never an issue in the first place. I just don't want to be within a continent of his agents in six to eight years when he's up for another deal.

Kinda feel like we just un-did the Michael Peca trade from 15 years ago.

This puts the dollars into perspective, although many players are overpaid long term after 1 or 2 good statistical seasons.

O'Reilly's 55 pts puts him in an offensive range with Bergeron, E.Stall, Kopitar, Plekanec, Backes and Datsyuk.

The top scoring C in the entire league is Tavares with 86 pts. ROR will not score at this clip but he is better defensively and is more physical. Toews is one if not the best C in the league and he scored 66 pts. ROR can add 10 more points with the added PP time and being the go to guy.

I like our matchup at C with rivals Toronto (Bozak), Ottawa (Turris), Montreal (Plekanec). Our 1-2 punch with Eichel will be tough to match in due time. The bonus is that if we end up having Eichel, Reinhart and Girgensons as our 3 C's then ROR can play wing.

Wasn't watching the Sabers that closely back then, could you explain?
