Surprised no one else has started one of these for today. Hopefully BRAWNDO or someone else will jump in with the excellent prior-matchup photos. Here's the game preview from the Sabres website:

SABRES (14-19-3) at SENATORS (14-14-7)

TV: MSG-B, BELL TV, RDSI, TSN5

Season series: The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Ottawa Senators 5-4 in a shootout Dec. 15 at First Niagara Center in their only game. Senators forward Alex Chiasson and Sabres forwards Brian Flynn and Marcus Foligno each had a goal and an assist. Sabres goalie Jhonas Enroth made 29 saves through 65 minutes and stopped all three Senators shooters in the shootout. Matt Moulson scored the only goal of the tiebreaker against Ottawa goalie Robin Lehner.

Sabres team scope: Buffalo ended a four-game losing streak with a 4-3 shootout win against the New York Islanders on Saturday. The Sabres have lost five straight on the road; their last win away from Buffalo came Nov. 29 in a 4-3 shootout win against the Montreal Canadiens. The Sabres are dealing with injuries and illness. Forwards Brian Gionta (head) and Foligno (hand) are out, and defensemen Tyler Myers (lower body) and Tyson Strachan (lower-body) have missed the past three and four games, respectively. Defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen left the game against the Islanders with an illness and is questionable. Defenseman Mark Pysyk was recalled from Rochester of the American Hockey League on Sunday. Forward Nick Deslauriers has at least a point in three straight games (two goals, two assists).

Senators team scope: Ottawa has lost three straight games (0-2-1) following a 3-2 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. Forward Mike Hoffman has three goals in the past four games, and Erik Condra has two goals in the past three games. The Senators have three players out with injuries. Defenseman Marc Methot (back) has played in two games this season, and forwards Chris Neil (lower body) and Zack Smith (wrist) have missed seven and six games, respectively. The Senators are four points ahead of the Sabres in the Eastern Conference.

Updates on the injured and/or ill players from the BN:

There are lots of fluid parts on the Buffalo defense heading into tonight’s game in Ottawa.

Tyler Myers (lower body), Rasmus Ristolainen (flu) and Andrej Meszaros (maintenance) all missed practice Sunday. Tyson Strachan, who has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, practiced fully Sunday for the first time and said he’s ready to go tonight.

Nolan said there’s a possibility Strachan can play and is still awaiting definitive word on Ristolainen. The Sabres, however, are clearly planning not to have either Ristolainen or Meszaros tonight as they have recalled Mark Pysyk from Rochester and he practiced with the team Sunday.

Elsewhere on the injury front, Nolan said captain Brian Gionta is on a week-to-week timetable with the upper-body injury he suffered last week in Boston. Marcus Foligno’s surgically repaired hand will keep him out around six more weeks.

I ask this semi-annually. What kind of flu do these guys get? Is it the respiratory flu? Or the so-called "intestinal flu" (gastroenteritis)? They usually come back so damned quick — usually missing a couple of days — it's hard to believe it's the flu flu, which can knock you on your ass, even if you're young and healthy and a world-class athlete.

It's probably what we call "the flu" when it's not a cold. Some kind of virus but not a full-blown in bed for a week influenza.

Also, these athletes are in near superhero condition and are young. They're going to recover faster than most of us.

Much better! How did you do it? (Assuming it's something I could have done and just didn't figure out.)

And many thanks to wjag for adding photos!

When you post there's a white/pink "eraser" button on the top left (right above the italics button) that you can use to remove the formatting from content that is copied and pasted. That's probably what you were looking for.

Not to mention team doctors are probably pumping them full of IVs
