JJFIVEOH
It is for me, not for the players. It's not for me. But in a season where wins obviously aren't important, I think it would be nice to see if Enroth can carry a full workload. Normally I would like to have a Halak or Neuvirth. Hoss
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC Sabres announce Klesla was in the trade too. Halak and a third in 2015 for Neuvirth and Klesla I now hate the trade... Jesus. I get that we had a lot of picks, but did we really need to just throw them in to trades? They still have value... 26CornerBlitz
@BuffaloSabres TRADE: #Sabres acquire G Michal Neuvirth & D Rostislav Klesla from @washcaps in exchange for G Jaroslav Halak & a 3rd-round pick in '15. But if wins aren't important and you want them to lose, how are they supposed to accurately evaluate Enroth to see what he has? This is probably my favorite deal they made, brings in someone with upside that can play now. Neuvirth has potential and at one time was viewed as being the #1 guy in Washington. He can atleast make a good tandem with Enroth for now

Swedesessed
Strange that the Sabres gave up a pick to make this deal, they must really like Neuvirth
biodork
Odd that they'd get another D-man. Klesla isn't bad, but do we really need another?
TrueBlueGED
Rostislav Klesla? What in the blue hell is this?

Iron Crotch
As best as I can tell we're just eating salary for other teams. Rusty has a ~$3 million cap hit. So maybe the Caps are just trying to unload him? Since Terry's is the league's ATM we'll take his contract.

...
The more I think about this, obviously the target was Neuvirth, and I think the goalie situation is in pretty good shape for the next season, at least. If this tandem works, then they can lock 'em both up for a few more years.
qwksndmonster
I'm not crazy about that, but a 3rd is a 3rd. Oh well.

nfreeman
Strange that the Sabres gave up a pick to make this deal, they must really like Neuvirth My thought exactly. This is another one of those "give TM the benefit of the doubt" moves. Clearly he sees potential in Neuvirth. Odd that they'd get another D-man. Klesla isn't bad, but do we really need another? He's a UFA after this season -- I'm guessing this was just a salary dump by the Capitals.
...
Also, yes, the Sabres aren't a playoff team, but you still need competent D men you can call up if there are injuries.

Samson's Flow
Klesla has a $2.975M cap hit and is an expiring UFA. I think that was the premium in order to get Nuevirth here for Halak. using Pegula's bucks and our cap room to grease the wheels a bit.
