Eleven: As for hiring people with zero connections to the team, this seems to be the way of life in the NHL now. Hire former players with limited experience for these roles. I don't get it. Nolan does coach Latvia. I guess we can tell who the groomed captain will be. Smart doing this before tomorrow. It would have been the catalyst for these moves and a huge embarrassment. Glad they were smart enough to avoid. Patty only lasted in NY for a bit because he has too many nads to deal with BS. I would assume he is THE guy for now and still may bring in his own young GM to help. Lafontaine played multiple years with Tom Fitzgerald.....hmmnnnn..... Lafontaine and Nolan respect each other. Ted was the perfect guy last time we were in this mess. I don't think he has the upside of some other choices, but given my analysis of the team last night and how we are pretty much stuck for the next few years....he is a solid choice. I think we know why Battista flew the coup from his baby. These are some pretty big doings, and it is good to have a trusted guy who actually knows what he is doing in multiple facets.
