BREAKING NEWS: The Blues have signed goalie Jake Allen (@34jallen) to a two-year contract. http://bit.ly/1bmf1EA #stlblues

Allen was going to be back either way unless we acquire him and one of the other goalies.

Weren't quite a few of the players Burke inherited drafted by Ferguson ? That would make it Fergusons team...Dunno, I could be wrong but you get the point.

Phaneuf

Lupul

Kessel

JVR

Bozak

McClement

Liles

Kadri

Colborne

Gardinier

Franson

That is the list of guys on their team Burke drafted or traded for (off the top of my head). Kulimen, Gunnarson and Reimer are the only pre-Burke guys on the team

You do a google street view of roads around the arena. You'll wonder whotf goes to their games.

I went a few years back. The building itself was great. The sea of banners is incredible. The surrounding area had to have been one of the strangest settings I've ever seen though. If Buffalo could surround an arena with Skyways, that what it felt like.

Somehow, I don't think people are going to be happy about this:

I am always amused how these multimillion and billionaires need public money to found their pet projects... okay that is just my mini rant.

Detroit needs a new arena and maybe some economic development will help. I look at Buffalo and think how lucky they are to have UB and Pegula and the Casino all investing in DT. (The Casino is still happening right?)

Not that you guys were inferring the Sabres should be interested, but I'm not sure we should be. And not just because we already have a little log jam at D (we could sell the Leafs a cheaper defenseman). While he's arguably the Leafs second best defender as far as offensive production, he's been playing some of the Leafs' easiest minutes for the past two seasons. He did take a big step forward this year and he does produce offensively, so maybe there's consideration for that, but you shouldn't expect he's going to come in and play a shut down role. Is there more room in Buffalo for another offensive defenseman with Ehrhoff, Myers, and Pysyk, all whom are unlikely to move in a deal for Franson, ready to play? History (MAGs, TJ Brennan, Leopold) says no, but if Franson projects to be better than one of the former, then I'm all ears.

I think there's other teams that would be more interested. Colorado?

Speaking of Stadia: http://www.cnn.com/2....html?hpt=hp_t2

They just complete a billion dollar renovation. Now they have 10 years to leave.

My first reaction was "wow, that sucks." But they'll be fine. They'll get that billion back within 5-6 years and then they'll build an even better arena for a billion and then get that money back quick. James Dolan is one rich fella.

I would think that Grabovski would be a good acquisition for the Sabres. He definitely has an axe to grind with Carlyle and the Leafs at the very least.

A team in the Sabres position has no need for 29 year olds unless it is for a short term and very reasonable dollars.

I don't care if a team is in a rebuild or not, you need to have some experience and veteran leadership on your team.

This is true unless the team is intentionally tanking. I don't see them going for the all-in intentional tank.

You can add veterans for the short term, no need to make long term investment at this point. Save the longer term contracts for retaining the prospects that hit.
