Gragnani for Vancouver's Sulzer

They can believe whatever they want. Fact is that on a team that has been in a free fall for two months, Grganani is a guy who after a 1/2 season trial, hasn't been able to sniff the ice. I guess they are wowed by his +/- and his fantastic passing skills.

Don't discount MAG's offensive side. I said a week or so ago that MAG was a good fit for the Canucks. It may save the kid's career to play with the talent the Canuck's have. Not a a top four defenseman, More like a 6-7 PP specialist type.

From the Vancouver board:

Heheheh.

well, he's kind of right. kassian and hodgson are different kinds of players, even if they both reach full potential, there will always be some saying Vancouver won the deal and others saying Buffalo did. But if MAG ends up being the PP QB and offensive D-man he looked like last April... then maybe Vancouver is a little more clear-cut of a winner.

But even if that's the case, I'm not too concerned with it. I don't think Vancouver does the deal without Gragnani.

We traded from a position of strength and depth by sending MAG. We have defensemen coming out of our ears around here and were able to parlay that into getting what we needed. Isn't that kind of the point of trading?

Dude......playoffs?

You are so negative. :P

They can win the Cup this year and Sulzer still will play <20 games. Tell you what: I'll put $100 to your favorite charity against $100 to Food Bank of WNY that the guy sees fewer than 20 games in a Sabre sweater. Playoffs included.

No thanks.

It was a joke. I've never heard of the guy.

I am becoming pretty confident that the Sabres won't win a playoff series next year though. They have $7 million to use and if they wouldn't dump Roy and Leopold today, their value is haircut to 60% July 1st. It is like dumping buckets of water overboard as the boat still takes on water. This team still doesn't act soon enough or aggressive enough to take it to the next level.

Same bet on winning a playoff series next year. It's for charity! (That means CHARITY, no PACs, or anything even resembling it. Think "Human Fund...Money for People." Something where money actually might get to those who need it.)

Ok....I'm in.

That's fair. $100.

If the Sabres win at least 1 playoff series in '12-'13 season.....I will donate $100 to the Food Bank, or wherever else you want.

If they don't you donate $100.........to Erie co. SPCA

That's cool with me.

Everybody wins!

EDIT: Except that lamb or whatever in your avatar. That looks like it's getting eaten, whether the Food Bank or the SPCA gets the money.

here is a perfect example of why everyone yells at me for quoting stats...

Mikememifis "Funny to be knocking Gragnani. His history only shows him improving his game every year, especially his defensive skills. He's the key to the deal. Buffalo put the effort into developing him. He was the only D man in Buffalo with a positive +/- this year. He fills the gap Bourdon left behind."

i read this on the TSN comment section and then rolled on the floor laughing for about 10 minutes... stats really aren't everything... I learned a valuable lesson today. If MAG was the key to the deal then sweet, take him away... SUCKERS! Someone should let them know MAG gets the shakes when opposing forwards get to close causing him to barf the puck up faster than alcoholic frat boy who has just funneled 10 beers... enjoy vancouver... enjoy

While I share some of your opinion with MAG, I do think he has a better chance to excel in Vancouver. He's still young and if paired with the right guy under the right system, he may be able to improve. He was still our 9th or 10th best D-man and overall I'm very excited about this trade( the whole thing).
