If the Caps win tonight, they will only be 3 points behind Boston. While highly unlikely, it is possible that Boston could miss the playoffs altogether while BFLO makes it. Boston, a team that went on a 21-2-1 run could miss the playoffs and a team that lost 12 straight road games in regulation, while going almost 3 months without winning consecutive games, could make it in. That was a game-in-hand against the Sabres for both teams, so we really need to look at Saturday (Sabres play) and Sunday (Washington and Winnipeg play) as one set. Best case: Sabres sit one behind Washington and one above Winnipeg; Worst case: Sabres sit five back of Washington and three back of Winnipeg.
