CIGAM Numbers:

- The numbers never go up, only down

- Each Team's Number goes down for every point they earn

- Each Team's Number goes down for every point the Sabres FAIL to earn.

- When a team's number reaches 0, the Sabres can't catch them

- Once 8 teams reach 0, the sabres are out

- If the season ends with fewer than 8 teams with zero or lower numbers, the Sabres are in

Rangers: 2

Pittsburgh: 6

Philly: 8

Devils: 10

Boston: 14

Ottawa: 15

Florida: 16

Washington: 19

Winnipeg: 23

Tampa: 26

Toronto: 27

Carolina: 28

Montreal: 30

Islanders: 30

Teams Clinched to finish ahead of the Sabres: none (yet)

Since Winnipeg's # is higher than Washington's, we want a Winnipeg win in regulation.

Ah - I have been on here for a couple of years and have never noticed it. I should have searched the site for it first instead of just searching this thread. Oh well.

No problem. The suggestion was still appreciated. It's often just provided as link without actually saying Sports Club Stats, so a search may not have revealed it anyway.

So Boston now sits 7th in the conference, only 8 points up on BFLO. If the Caps win tonight, they will only be 3 points behind Boston. While highly unlikely, it is possible that Boston could miss the playoffs altogether while BFLO makes it. Boston, a team that went on a 21-2-1 run could miss the playoffs and a team that lost 12 straight road games in regulation, while going almost 3 months without winning consecutive games, could make it in. What a weird and wacky season to say the least.

Boston finishes out the season against the Rangers, Senators, Penguins and Sabres.

Yup! Now it's up to the Sabres to win tomorrow!

That was a game-in-hand against the Sabres for both teams, so we really need to look at Saturday (Sabres play) and Sunday (Washington and Winnipeg play) as one set. Best case: Sabres sit one behind Washington and one above Winnipeg; Worst case: Sabres sit five back of Washington and three back of Winnipeg. If it's the latter, then I'd pretty much be ready to throw in the towel.

Tonight:

Washington at Chicago -- high likelihood that Sabres will get help.

Carolina at Winnipeg -- high likelihood that the Sabres won't get help.

Most likely outcome at end of night:

Winnipeg -- 78 pts

Washington -- 78 pts

Sabres -- 76 pts

All with 10 games left.

It's still very, very possible.

Go Sabres.

Clear you calender for April 7th. The last day of the season.

Washington @ NY Rangers

Tampa @ Winnipeg

Buffalo @ Boston

I am taking the 8th off. I expect an intense day of hockey and beer.

winnipeg might beat carolina, but the game itself could hurt winnipeg in the long run. bogosian absolutely nailed nodl midway through the second and got a 5 minute major & a game misconduct for it. he's got to be out for at least a couple more if shanahan has something even remotely close to a brain

Can't ask for any more help than that.

And yet, I suspect I'll be going to do so in the very near future...

Back to regularly scheduled programming:

Current status:

Washington -- 78 pts

Winnipeg -- 78 pts

Sabres -- 76 pts

All with 10 games left.

Tomorrow night:

Sabres at Tampa -- toss-up

Washington at Detroit -- high likelihood that the Sabres will get help

Potential standings after tomorrow night:

Washington -- 78 pts -- 9 games left

Sabres -- 78 pts -- 9 games left

Winnipeg -- 76 pts -- 10 games left

Tuesday night:

Winnipeg at Pittsburgh

It's all there for them. Are they going to step up and take it?
