  1. Geez - didn't mean to kill the thread :) Brewed for the first time in a long, long time. Made 10 gallons of "The Blank Czech Pils" for the start of hockey season. Now to fill the rest of my fermenters and kegs... If anyone gets down to Jamestown area check out Brazil. Excellent selection on tap and decent bottles list.
  2. Looks like I'll have to checkout Resurgence on my next visit to Buffalo. Thanks for the info.
  3. How is the beer @ Resurgence? I've been traveling to Buffalo quite often lately and was thinking about stopping in there. I did have some Flying Bison Kolsch last time I was up there (Taste of Buffalo weekend) and it was okay. Is their IPA decent?
  4. The goal to send it to OT should not have happened. I find myself routing for CBJ in this series but I'm not sure if it's because I like the grit they are playing with or if I just have that much dislike for Crosby.
  5. Agreed. I only buy black and this is the first one I have had trouble with. It had some chips in it when I bought it (CPO) so the repaint with a better paint and thicker clear coat will prob help. Other than that it's a great car. I drove the new Q50 sedan and didn't like it as much.
  6. Black. Seems like it scratches if a leaf lands on it. The dealer washed it recently and used an auto car wash with brushes and scratched and swirled it all over. I complained about it and they took it back in and hand detailed it. When I got it back there were a bunch of gouges out of the paint on the door. Looked like the valet hit something in the road and it flew up and gouged the side. Thinking about getting it repainted and have an extra coat of clearcoat added.
  7. A new brewpub just opened in Mansfield called Phoenix Brewing. One of the guys from our brew club is a brewer/owner there. Beers are pretty good. Next time the sabres play the jackets stop in. It's only 15 mins off of 71 and about an hour north of Columbus.
  8. Got the 2010 g37x coupe. Love it. Only complaint so far is the paint is brittle on it. My old '02 Jetta has less chips and scratches than the g37.
  9. Sounds about right. My wife had the same initial reaction to the smell but now after years of me brewing she actually likes the smell of grains and freshly added hops during the brewing process. edit- just kegged 5 gallons of my pale ale and I'm not impressed with it. I used 1098 yeast this time so maybe that's the difference. At least I have another 5 gallons with a different yeast to keg later.
  10. Stopped at Southern Tier over the weekend. They had a few new beers on tap. One was a belgian farmhouse ale called 'Steve'. It was ok. They had another belgian called 'Grand Arbor' that was all bubblegum. The Eurotrash pils was decent as usual - maybe a bit over-hopped. They have also expanded their food menu too. We didn't eat there but it all looked pretty good. Oddly enough, while there we ran into the guys that are opening the Phoenix Brewery in Mansfield. Small world.
  11. Did the yeast pack swell before you pitched it?
  12. You can make brewing as complicated or as simple as you want to. That's part of the fun of it. Extract brewing is on the easier side of things and you can make some pretty good beer that way. All grain needs more equipment and generally takes a bit longer on brew day. I brewed extract for 3 batches with a kit I bought online and then switched to all grain with a couple of picnic coolers and an old keg with the top cut off for a long time. There's something really satisfying about sitting down with an excellent brew that I made and watching the Sabres play. Glad to see there are a few of us homebrewers on here. I remember talking to Weave about brewing awhile back.
  13. I made my 4-hop Pale Ale - uses citra, cluster and casade and dry hop with Amarillo. Split into 2 carboys - 1 has Thames Valley and the other has 1098. Still getting the hang of the eHerms but this last brew went pretty well considering I haven't brewed in a long time. I'd be curious to see your stout recipe of you don't mind sharing it.
  14. Brewed 10 gallons of APA yesterday. First batch in awhile but managed to hit my target OG. Now to brew some irish stiout and some euro pils.
  15. Belgians are not my favorite either but I do think Rockmill is pretty true to the styles they brew. Not over-the-top with any of the brews. Just solid, clean representations of the styles. It's also a cool place to visit. Lancaster is not that far from Columbus for those that come down for games against CBJ.
