Twitter as a place to get information (subscribe to people who put out news, not to interact with them). But my big problem with social media is the interaction. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a place to share ideas. But alas, instead its a megaphone for people to blast their opinion and shout down anyone who doesn't agree with them....with a side of them making not-so-funny jokes as a way to make themselves look clever. Then again, this very message forum is kinda of a cousin to social media (or maybe a precursor.) Most things have a good concept but then are quickly ruined by humanity. 2

Working as a team is a lost art I thought it was just my take as a grumpy old man but individual success has become the most important thing in people’s lives. In simple things like cutting in line or aggressive driving people give off the impression that they are more important than me as a reason for their behaviour. Patience seems like a lost virtue. I spent nearly 40 years honing my skills and rising up the ranks. Before I retired I had apprentices thinking they were management material and new employees wondering why they weren’t paid journeyman wage (4 years of experience + competency testing) earlier.

Before I retired I had apprentices thinking they were management material and new employees wondering why they weren’t paid journeyman wage (4 years of experience + competency testing) earlier. I had a case the other evening that was quite involved, icu care, etc etc... During that process I had to cardiovert (shock) a few times. Fast forward to 2 days later, patient was transferred to a tertiary care center and overall doing as well as expected based on the critical nature of the case. Because the ER was busy, the nurses never got around to scanning in the printouts from the code... So cardiology and Crit care were throwing my (and my teams care) under the bus. Using words such as mismanaged and clearly protecting themselves in case the outcome is bad. They only looked at earlier rhythm strips and never even called or sent a message to ask about the case.... I spent the last 2 days gathering all of the data needed to assure these asshats that I do in fact know what I'm doing. Scanned them into the patient chart and send a nice passive aggressive email that I have 20 years experience and maybe they should think before they speak in such a way. Cc'd Admin on it as well. Turns out it was a resident that was causing a stink so I made sure to reach out to the attending this week and have a nice chat about mutual respect. Idk, the Monday morning QB society we have now chaps my @ss 1

Idk, the Monday morning QB society we have now chaps my @ss In my years working in healthcare I ran into more than a few residents who exhibited a holier than thou attitude. It was nearly a perfect record that a resident got a righteous beat down from their superiors for being that way when it was called out. Onto other news.. my glorious vacation that I spoke of in last week's Fantastic Friday thread? Yeah, you might be wondering why I am here posting when I should be on vacation, 7.5 hours away. Well, 2.5 hours into the trip the car basically went to shite on the 90 around Schenectady. Thus began a full day of getting the whole family towed off 90 into Fultonville, NY to have a small shop take a look and replace the alternator (there was an alternator issue, I know enough about cars to know that). However, it apparently also fried a control unit or something. So... no car. Got a ride to the Albany airport hoping for a rental so I can get home. No sir.. all out. Got a ride back to Fultonville where 2.5 hours later my MIL picks us up. We return home at around 11:30 at night. Vacation over (goodbye AirBNB money!). Now it's sitting in a dealership in Schenectady waiting to get looked at, could take up to 3 weeks... fantastic. So yeah.. no more tempting the fates I suppose. 1 1

On day 1 of our vacation I took another fall on a boat ramp. No hospital visits or anything, but my foot, knee, and right hand are still messed up. Its not vacation over, but sure did throw a damp towel over it. 1

As a kid, we had a similar experience but not as completely trip ruining. On our way to DC, had a rock kicked up into the car's radiator in some nothingberg in Pennsyltucky. A local shop managed to patch the hole a few hours later but pretty sure the cost was about 3/4ths of the spending money dad had allocated for the full trip. Ended up with a lot of fast food meals and sandwiches made in hotel rooms that trip (which was fine with us kids, but pretty sure the 'Rents weren't enjoying that one bit). Sucks that your vacation was ruined. At least it was the car and not one of the kids that needed to see an emergency specialist.
Night Train Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago Sabres still a couple forwards short. Id like a goalie also but don't see that. Forwards..unless you think you can win a ton of 2-1 games. Good luck with that.

We found an old inflatable pool and blew that up earlier this week when it was hot out. I made pina coladas and we listened to some music while hanging out in the pool. Until we realize the upper air chambers had slow leaks and the pool emptied itself. Oh well, the lawn needed watering anyway. I've been to a few breweries, I've been in the liquor cabinet as well. I did some deck maintenance that was overdue and I've made a few things in the kitchen that have been worthy. All in all, I'll make the best of it. Sorry about the fall.. sorry that you had to say it as "took ANOTHER fall" ugh. 13 minutes ago, Taro T said: As a kid, we had a similar experience but not as completely trip ruining. It could have been much worse. The alternator repair was fairly priced and the guy actually did us quite a few favors as well getting us to Albany and back. It would have been nice, but we make the best of it. I had a friend get hit by a runaway tire one year while driving 81 near Gettysburg. Wrecked the hell out of his car. I've seen much worse on our travels too.. so all in all? Just roll with it. 1

Regarding “another fall”, 2 Summers ago I went down much harder at a slippery boat ramp and broke and displaced my tailbone. There is no surgical procedure with good outcomes for that. I live with that one every day.
