  1. Didn’t realize he had that impact on them.
  2. Carolina is my pick as well but Anderson is as durable as Mule.
  3. I was away with limited internet for two weeks but I did see some information on the firings. I don’t understand how Ellis stays on. Maybe a part of the Amerks next year? Send him to Arizona to be their coach in waiting.
  4. I really like this kid and think he can be a part of the future. Tokarski cannot be #3 next year. PS, I harbour no ill will for your comments towards Canadian grammar rules creating extra typing for us.
  5. EJ was brought in to be Teppo-light, five years too late.
  6. The UFA status had me thinking Sam would have a bumper season but I didn’t see 57 goals as a possibility. I don’t think he hits that number again. I don’t know how to look it up but Hyman’s average location of his goals must be within 4 feet of the crease, hmmm.
  7. They have a ways to go but Robinson, Savard and Lapointe were all LHD. To a lesser extent, Pronger, Niedermayer and Beauchemin were also all LHD.
  8. Maybe he can be a part of the LTIR shenanigans every contender plays when the Sabres join that group.
  9. I have been to your coast many times and would enjoy living there but a Sabres fan who attends games needs to remain nearby. Gotta love the north, just got back from two weeks in the Caribbean and had to light the wood stove this morning.
  10. UPL has actually carried the team for a long stretch. I think he got a little worn down but he is the man right now. Levi has benefited from his AHL work and is not done there yet. Competition at camp is a good thing and I think KA will go with these two. I would like to see an experienced backup brought in to amp up the battle while Levi is still AHL eligible. Key point, do not carry 3 goalies to start the season.
  11. Benson is CHL eligible only and there is no way he goes back after a full year in the show. He will only get stronger and faster this summer while mulling over how he can be more effective. A kid with his drive and passion will only move forward. He may have hiccups and sit a game but he is an NHLer, with a lot of runway left.
  12. That cannot be a good feeling. I don’t know much about your industry but I am sure you will land on your feet. Maybe not on your radar but there is a shortage in Canada. Good luck.
  13. Congrats on the win. My team slowed down the last few weeks and a few key injuries didn’t help. Wait until next year.LOL
  14. I see him as a Sebastian Aho type of player. I am not ready to anoint him as a sure fire superstar but he was excellent in the NCAA as a very young man and I was impressed with him being Canada’s best player at the WJHC at 17.
  15. I’ll be there, it would be cool to run into those guys in Prague.
  16. Lefty here so I followed those guys more. Mickelson was my guy for 30 years even though I wasn’t a big fan of his on screen personality. I understand his move to LIV financially, but it was a bit of a stomach punch the way he handled it. In the Jack vs Tiger debate I am in Jack’s camp because of longevity and top 3’s, top 10’s and such.
  17. Right handed Canadian. First sport was hockey, played left handed, not sure why. Next came baseball, left handed batter. Last sport is golf and left handed as well. Finding equipment was a challenge years ago but there is a good selection now. I recall reading that golfers were discouraged from playing LH. I cannot play any of these right handed with any real coordination.
  18. DG coaching rejected 3rd liners, sounds like a great recipe for success.
  19. There are some rumours about him being a couple of years older than what he says. One story I recall quoted Kovalchuk saying they had wanted to play together in the NHL since they were like 8 years old. Kovalchuk is two years older than Ovie.
  20. I know he’s never going to a tough, physical Dman. I watched him in the World Championships, World Juniors and the Olympics. He had the skating ability, reach and IQ to stand out in those events. In the NHL, his idea of physical is to turn his back on an opponent while pinning the puck on the boards, waiting for an opening. I am not asking for him to become Pronger, just to throw the odd hit when it’s available, stand up for himself in a scrum and push a guy out of the crease. He is still young and will get stronger so he will become better. If he tries to add 10% more grit that would give him more room and help his confidence.
  21. Rousek can go back to the Amerks and I’m not sure if Jost is eligible.
  22. I am interested to see where he could insert himself into this lineup. He and Komarov could be a future 3rd pair, twin towers.
  23. If he breaks it I hope it is not as a Leaf. They lose 4-1 to Tampa and the story here is Matthews getting his 63rd.
  24. They have another run left in them. They will miss Sergachev but he could be back later on.
  25. At the time of the trade I thought Krebs would slot in as a middle six C. He hasn’t done anything to date to warrant more than a 4C role. I believe it was James Patrick who said that Krebs might have to realize he may have to carve out a lower role for himself. A seasoned 3C acquisition would be my preference, just not overly seasoned like Staal was. There are enough good wingers around to have 3 scoring lines. Krebs can stay on the 4th line, realizing he needs to be solid defensively, win draws and bring some energy.
