  1. It almost feels in some retail outlets that they are looking at me and thinking “ what are you doing here, you know you can order that online”. We bought a car recently. They had a young employee give us old people an orientation on the car, all of the high tech bells and whistles. They had a kid was very pleasant and trying hard but wasn’t very familiar with the model. She was fumbling through stuff and we honestly could have done the same. Employee turnover is crazy at these places.
  2. I want to see Dahlin get a few points, crush a few Rangers and chirp Fox that he can’t believe a scrub like him won a Norris.
  3. I think the way things are going and he is wired he will treat a call up as a chance to take the net, never find fill in part time.
  4. First frost of the fall. Nice fire going, cup of tea and watching Open de Espana golf.
  5. Power/Bryson pairing is just asking for them to get caved in. These are the 2 softest D on the team, together. It’s bad enough Bryson is still on the team, now he is second pairing. C’mon Lindy, give RyJo a chance.
  6. Friedman’s 32 Thoughts today mentions that Roy and Pominville thought Erhoff and Leino contracts messed up the Sabres room.
  7. I hope so, that was what I expected after his development path was over. I am skeptical because he may go to the dirty areas in practice.
  8. You forgot the willing lightweight Krebs.
  9. They are all winnable games, Boston, Ottawa and Canadiens are about level with Buffalo. Florida is not the same without Barkov and Tkachuk. Rangers are only better in net while Colorado lacks depth and I am not sure if their goaltending holds up. Wild cards are Sabres goaltending and the health of the D corps.
  10. Kind of like building from the net out using castoffs and the waiver wire.
  11. I think a lot of this is rewarding people who have been part of the Cup runs and an attempt to extend their window of opportunity by a few years. They could just gradually fade away like Pittsburgh. I prefer this more than the cutthroat approach Vegas took. Pittsburgh should have moved on from their old core before now though but I like that the “wiz” GM Kyle Dubas continues to flounder. I better watch what I say, TP could hire him down the road.
  12. Correct. Everyone on the team has to toughen up and have a pack mentality. There aren’t many “staged” fights anymore because most teams don’t want the hassle of carrying someone who is a liability and only gives you 5 minutes. They would rather pay a semi tough guy who can play 10 minutes in another role and hold his own if things get out of hand. Ryan Reaves did not help the Leafs last year.
  13. Then Levi might have to come up.
  14. Johnson belongs, Bryson can’t leave soon enough.
  15. Quite often, one of the largest holdings of my retirement fund is potash producer Nutrien, their mining assets are primarily in Saskatchewan.
  16. West Edmonton mall can accommodate hundreds of palm trees.
  17. Not sure but he was probably around 10% for a good chunk of that first big deal. Interesting that Crosby has never been the highest paid player in any year of his career. Leaving a bit on the table helps them win 3 Cups imo.
  18. If UPL gets healthy and shares the net with Lyon then Rochester could have Levi, Georgiev and Ellis.
  19. McDavid is trying to give the GM some money to get more talent while Kaprizov doesn’t care about winning, just his bank account.
  20. McJesus doesn’t want to be the bad guy and leave next summer but he is preparing the Edmonton fans for a farewell. Crosby has been making $8.7M for the last 10 years.
  21. TP is gonna be p****d if Georgiev and Bryson are waived after signing NHL contracts. KA foolishly throwing his money in the toilet.
  22. This is always a delicate balancing act and I see value in both approaches. I believe this choice is on a case by case basis. Every kid wants to play as high a level as possible as soon as possible but it is not always the right path. I am leaning to the WHL camp because of his age. He will get tons of ice time there and play in all situations and gain confidence by being the man. He can play in Rochester once his season is over and should be done with junior hockey. I haven’t seen him enough in the pre season to assess what level he could play at in the AHL but unless he is an elite Dman at that level he should have to earn his ice time. Does he automatically jump ahead of Johnson, Jones, Novikov and Komarov for ice time and special teams play? If Johnson makes the NHL (fingers crossed) and Bryson goes down, that is another issue. He can gain a lot by training, practicing and competing with men every day but I think hanging around kids his age until he is 19 won’t hurt his development. There is tweener depth in Rochester plus a couple of young guys who could fill a hole, I don’t want KA to have Mrtka at his disposal just yet.
  23. Yes, RJ is talking to me in the video. He is a few years older than me but we grew up in small towns near each other in Northern Ontario, which my son had made him aware of. Rick calls me “neighbour” and other personal touches are included..
  24. My son got one for my birthday, obviously still saved on my phone.
  25. Solid C so far. Like everyone else says, his health is the key. 75 games at around a point per game, a good faceoff number, helping the PP and not getting caved in defensively will help the team be in the playoff run. This could allow the GM to be a buyer and get another top 6 player at the deadline?
