Exactly. I’m not looking to completely revamp the lineup. Get a 3-4 C. A backup goalie. A gritty winger or two. He can do it his way but it is his a** on the line if they fail again.

Something I was unaware of, teams can still trade players, but those players are ineligible for the playoffs. Habs and Devils made a trade today of minor leaguers. KA could get the jump on the off season and get a 3-4C from another non playoff team.

At this point it’s all we’ve got. Most of us are realistic about the impossible odds but while other teams are s******g the bed there is a chance. I am watching regardless so it feels better when the game is “meaningful”.

When I hear KA thinking of getting a veteran 4C I envision a Riley Sheahan type of move. He needs to get a 3C who Krebs competes with for the role.

I’m in for signing Stephenson but he doesn’t even have a letter in Vegas.

I could see that possibly happening but it would be the weirdest D corps in the league with two LHD pairings and a RHD pairing. That’s kind of how they slot right now talent wise. Power and Mule could be a solid shutdown pair if they could find some chemistry.

Probably no discount on UPL but Ullmark was a UFA. UPL doesn’t’t get the standard 7x7M but a 3 or 4 year deal seems reasonable. If Joker is moved he may get a little miffed though.

I hate to admit it because he was my whipping boy, but he has been good. He can stay as a 7.

At the very least he could mentor the young guys with tips on fitness and nutrition.

Mitts was with Nichushkin and Drouin last night. He was on PP2, he’ll get some points.

My two cents. I liked Mitts but I think that Thompson and Cozens are 1&2 C going forward. KA would have to pay all 3 C’s $7M each, which probably wouldn’t work. I have always liked Byram, he is definitely a top 4 guy, just the wrong hand. I think KA makes another move or two here so this is not how the D line up in October. I see this as a sell high on Mitts, he is pretty much at his max production in Buffalo. I like his chances to go deep into the playoffs and will watch closely. The Avs really need a 2C and he could find a nice spot there. Once the Sabres are eliminated, the Avs are who I will pull for. One of the LHD might get flipped or one of these guys becomes permanent on the right side. As others have said, the dressing room gets a wake up call, which I like. I hope the next moves are for a gritty forward or two.

Cozens and Byram were the only two on 2020 team. Krebs, Quinn and Levi played in 2021 with them.
