In this era it seems rare that goalies have any year after year consistency. He may regain better form next year but that doesn’t help this season and leaves a big question mark coming into October. I want Levi to be ready to challenge for #1 so that the tandem can get on some hot streaks and win some games. Ride the hot hand. The current set up is in trouble if UPL falters. UPL bounce back and Levi emergence would be nice.

There are numerous reasons that add up to creating a losing team. All of the key reasons are listed in the poll. Some play a bigger part while others compound things. I have come to the conclusion that the only common denominator for all 14 years of hell is TP. His hiring has been terrible, which sets the table for bad decisions at all levels and leads to poor performance. The available cap space has not been utilized for many years and we know who controls the purse strings. The constant losing has worn on everyone and there doesn’t seem to be any leadership showing the way with a plan and how it will work. Draft and hope is not a strategy.

I am so disappointed in this season that I don’t want to even think about the draft too much, but it is an annual ritual for this team to have a good lottery pick. I love Schaefer but I kind of hope he is gone when the Sabres pick because he is a LHD. If he is BPA at their pick then there needs to be a trade in place for Power/Byram to get immediate help at another position.

You nailed the mental makeup of this team. I find this leads to a lack of urgency, when that is required. I find Power to be the biggest culprit of this mindset. There can be 20 seconds left in the PP and he slowly dawdles up the ice killing precious seconds off the clock. A similar thing happens when the goalie is pulled. Zucker and Benson hate to lose and they need more of that, I think Dahlin has the fire in his belly, he just gets frustrated and loses his cool or makes poor decisions.
