And so I repeat, the largest single contributing factor to enabling ISIS to establish a foothold in Iraq, other than the removal of Hussein as a check in the entire region, was the conscious decision by Maliki to exclude the Sunni minority and deny them a seat at the table in establishing a new Iraq. His prejudice made it too easy for military and police personnel to defect and bring a ton of weaponry along. Nobody seams to want to hold Maliki accountable it seems.

Oil has driven ME policy of the US, UK, Russia, France and Europe for over a hundred years and has fomented many of the anti-West movements in the region since BP first discovered major oil in what is now Iran in the early part of the last century. I urge everyone to read Daniel Yergin's 'The Prize', considered one of the best books ever written on the subject of oil.

Who is on the ground administrating this plan and what is the personnel ratio relative to the population? The Middle East isn't just one giant problem area. It is a giant problem area with a myriad of problems across a huge geographical area with a countless number of antagonists, bad actors, and corrupt politics. We would need to implement a Marshall Plan on an exponential scale compared to post WW2.

From illegally dealing with Iraq in the late 90s to illegally selling Iran nuclear centrifuges to enrich their Uranium, there is no rogue nation too rogue for Halliburton.

What can I say? I saw a player going through the motions for long periods in those last twenty games and I don't confuse that with simply not knowing what he was doing. Especially when he had played much better previously. You can't hide lack of effort behind lack of experience. Not hustling to a puck is not hustling to a puck. Not hustling to clear a man is not hustling to clear a man. GO SABRES!!!

Appreciate the clarification here. She does NOT pander to other audiences, only her own.
-
Anne Coulter is the epitome of pandering to an audience by saying EXACTLY what they want to hear.
-
If we go back to royal blue like we should, I could agree even more. GO SABRES!!!
-
And I would argue his struggles were mostly due to a lack of hustle and desire to engage. It was plain as day to me. He wasn't out of position because he didn't know where to be, he just didn't seem to care if he got there or not. GO SABRES!!!

Amusing. You mentioned up thread that before you visited France you had a far different opinion of her. What was that opinion and what shaped it?
-
In spurts, nothing more. Like I said, the last 20 games of last season were telling. He just didn't seem to care half the time. GO SABRES!!!
-
Ann has a constituency she needs to play to in order to sell books to people that enjoy hearing only what they want to hear. It's niche marketing and she knows her audience.

No thanks. I am not interested in what they have to say about France. But I am sick of the tired rhetoric from the right. From them being an ungrateful and cowardly ally in WWII, to the outrage for them not letting our bombers fly over their airspace when we bombed Qaddaffi in the mid 80s, to the Freedom Fries cry because they objected to our Iraq policies. You name it, there has been no shortage of manufactured outrage against that country for years. And why?

When Zadorov coasted the last 20 games last season, major flags were raised with me. Some said it was Nolan, playing in a tank season, etc. My argument was simple; you either have a passion to play or not. It isn't something you turn off and on, especially as a young player. GO SABRES!!!

Kane has watched countless games while out with injury over the years. For lack of a better term, his game lacks nuance. He is a one speed rocket of jam on the ice, a pain in the ass to play against, and a shooting machine. I don't think he can change at this point. GO SABRES!!!

How much treasure has Iraq cost us as it is? Far, far more than the idiots who proclaimed the Iraq war would be paid for by Iraqi oil, ever predicted. I could argue we have spent and will continue to spend more because Rummy, Wolfie and the boys did not heed better advice at the time and decided on a half-assed approach to begin with. Money was never the problem with that administration. Why? France has a rich history as our ally. Good chance our country wouldn't exist without her.

Any chance of a workable state was lost when Maliki, formerly granted political asylum in Iran, decided to exclude the Sunni minority in establishing a new government. Maliki, more than anyone else, made it easy for Iraqi military and police personnel to defect to and help arm and organize ISIS within Iraqi borders.
-
Not to be a buzzkill, but why am I always leery of that first home game coming off a road trip? GO BILLS!!!

Military leadership is only as effective as the civilian powers entrusted to direct it. In the case of Iraq, Rummy, Wolfy, and the rest of the boys screwed the pooch with their arrogance in thinking Iraq could be changed on the cheap. When Powell warned of the "Pottery Barn" rule of "you break it, you bought it", a flag was raised. When they fired Shinseki for having the temerity to say they needed far more troops before they invaded, it was obvious we never intended to commit to affecting any meaningful change. Bottom line is this: in post war Japan and in our sector of Germany, we stuck to a ratio of one soldier per every 10 in population. In Iraq it was 1 in 25. We also allowed local politicians a say in reestablishing order as well as arming local police to help maintain it. We did none of that in Iraq even though military leaders advised it before going in.

Got that right. Securing a cheap labor pool is steeped in our country's history. Labor laws made it more difficult for employers to exploit people, so illegal aliens have been a boon. Reagan didn't sign an amnesty bill strictly out of the goodness of his heart. Our hypocritical leadership in Congress and elsewhere don't have the stones to go after the employers, either.

Based on his previous stint with us in the 90s and his time with the Isles, I say it was 90% Nolan's lack of system, 10% tank. He's just never been an X and O kind of coach from what I can gather. GO SABRES!!! -
After 15 games, who is the most surprising Sabre?
K-9 replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Aud Club
Gotta agree with those saying McCabe. He has been a revelation. I am not at all surprised by Reinhart. He does a lot of little things right on the ice, mostly because he plays a very composed game and lets the play come to him. I saw plenty of that even last year in his nine game stint, too. He was putting pucks in areas that guys were supposed to be, but weren't. On the negative side, I agree with those that said Matty Mo. He is a step too slow for this newly minted fast skating team, but I thought he'd be more productive at this juncture. GO SABRES!!! -
Bottom line? Training. Or lack thereof.

Well, that's two Republican candidates who have disqualified themselves on the basis of having no clue about the first amendment of the Constitution. I think Carson and Cruz should debate the question of which is worse, a Muslim president or an atheist president.
