I had some of those smoked wings that I mentioned earlier on monday. It's a brewery so they have some random sauces related to the beers they make. I wound up going with one that was a mix that included both habanero and jalapeno. It had some good kick to it. I don't know what they did, but usually a hotter sauce like that will linger for a while, but for whatever reason, this one didn't. I usually like having that flavor linger for a while on my lips, but this was a pleasant surprise. I think I've found my place for an occasional visit for wings.

I feel like including Kane in the offseason acquisition list too. Things could get very entertaining very fast with a few more moves.

At this point, if I even bother to look back on history, I go back to the 2005 lockout. But only championship tally that matters to me gets reset each October. What have you done for me lately?
-
History is however based on a long period of time where there were 6 teams or less in the league. Those numbers mean so little to me.

He's going to Bobby Valentine it and come out wearing a fake mustache, right?

I just looked up the stats and you nailed it. He just squeaked by with the last one, with 19 goals in Buffalo and then 1 after being traded to the Islanders. It is kind of funny though to see the guy with the best OHL playoff stat line of all time wind up getting traded for Paul Kruse.

You won't be the only one to be confused by that. Given that it's a hockey league it might have been a smart move to go with a different name. That is going to throw off so many people.

I never thought I'd see the day where seeing Jason Dawe play at the Aud would be the line for being old.

I can't read. Need sleep

So who is the other top writer, Ivan Putski? People seem to be too busy posting pictures of naked men so I haven't clicked on many threads today.

Stand still for 20 minutes and you win

And Nolan has always worked so well with GMs in the past too. That leaves us with no other option than to pin all the blame on Murray.

I guess it just got to be too tough to maintain multiple usernames.

What the hell?

I take it back, Vanek has 2 years left. I didn't realize that stupid NHL numbers has 15-16 listed as the current season already.
-
With one year remaining? I think someone can find a way to make it work.

The bold part is pretty much the nature of the beast though, isn't it? In the league as a whole, the older guys tend to be the highest paid players. I'm not going to go team by team, but I'd imagine you'd see the same thing with a lot of teams, both good and bad. It's far more about the type of players are in that group is as opposed to their age. Anaheim's got 4 of their top 5 over the age of 30 and I don't think anyone will say the same thing about them. The only place where age is going to sting Minnesota is with Parise and Suter. The others' contracts will be up by the time people will be ready to call them old. They've got a good group of young talent, but unfortunately don't seem to have the right kind of players to complement them.

Thank you. I think you just provided the first ever moment in my life where someone questioned how much gas was left in the tank of a guy who is younger than me. I expect there to be an AARP card waiting in the mail for me later today.- 48 replies

What was it, just the Yzerman connection? They've always seemed to be very happy with Cooper there and throwing him away sure does sound like a panic move to me. He'd get scooped up by someone in a heartbeat.

The bolded point above, I think there's a bit of that, but also a lot of people around here also take themselves and the message board environment itself too seriously. To me, this is a place where people come to shoot the spit and talk about the game a bit. It's not a place to make a name for yourself as an investigatory journalist, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied along the way, just so long so you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory journalist, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied and dying along the way. I just wish we could go back to talking about hockey instead of it always becoming about the posters themselves.

Reinhart is going to have all the same bonuses that Eichel will get. As long as he's in the NHL and not the AHL, their cap hits should be near identical.- 48 replies

I found a barbeque place out here that smokes their wings first and then fries them. Maybe it's a common approach at other places, but this was the first one where I actually looked at wings on the menu. I have to say, their process worked out really well. They nailed the crispiness with them. I may be heading there tonight actually, so my mouth is now watering.

Anyone see this concept jersey design before?

It's ok, she was way after your time. You probably started tuning out of the popular music scene once they started making those crazy instruments with strings on them. -
He posts and then disappears for 6 months. How is that any different from being banned? But anyway, I don't blame the guy. When someone has been insulting you for years in a very public manner, most can only take so much? Professional? No, but I still can't blame anyone for snapping. I for one don't know why a sports discussion has to constantly turn to shredding the people who cover them. Whether it's ESPN hate, WGR hate, or Buffalo News hate, it gets stale really fast, yet it winds up being one of if not the most frequent topics here or any other board. These guys get paid to write about sports, they're not exactly at the peak of society's pecking order. Why do we care about them so much as to mention them constantly? I don't need to see a bunch of letters on a screen or a paper to change one bit of what goes through my mind when watching a game.
