  1. It was the Islander pick that went for Lehner though, wasn't it? This game of trying to trace back trades always winds up getting very trick.
  2. I've seen people listing the previous players taken at 21 and using it as a defense of this trade. I'm not a big fan of that approach due to the crap shoot nature of the draft, especially after you get beyond the top 5 or so. As you get deeper into drafts, I prefer to look at a 3-5 pick bubble around your pick to see how it has done historically. So out of random curiosity I decided to look at the most recent guys taken 22nd overall. It sure does paint a different picture than the list of #21 that was posted on here before. Take a look: 2014: Kasperi Kapanen 2013: Emile Poirier 2012: Olli Maatta 2011: Tyler Biggs 2010: Jarred Tinordi 2009: Jordan Schroeder 2008: Jordan Eberle 2007: Max Pacioretty 006: Claude Giroux Yes, this doesn't mean much at all, I just found it interesting.
  3. Why would we buy out a one year deal when we are so low below the cap? Maybe they send him through to Rochester, but that contract is staying on the books.
  4. I'm a little confused by the outrage of taking on a $3 million cap hit for one year. That will have no impact on this team whatsoever. I'm not crazy about this, but it has very little to do with Legwand.
  5. It's probably a story for another thread, but that Jets deal really doesn't feel like an overpayment to me. This one, yes, but I'm still waiting to see what the official deal will/would be.
  6. Am I just making stuff up or wasn't there a little talk last year that we were trying to work out a deal with Legwand?
  7. What does a tie count as in the NFL?
  8. How could the league not target 2017-2018 for this expansion. That has to be exactly what they have planned as a part of the 100th anniversary.
  9. It'll be disappointing. It always is.
  10. Until the the creation of the extra point for overtime games, the point system was the same exact thing as a winning percentage, just a friendlier way of quantifying it.
  11. At one point a few months before the draft he was thought to be one of the top 2-3 guys, but that fell off. Granted it's way too early to say something like this, but looking at the top portion of that year's draft, it really doesn't look like it was very strong. There doesn't seem to be a real break out player in that group yet.
  12. A game that doesn't count towards the standings at all? No, that never happens.
  13. That's the way it currently works right now in the rare case where you get a two man advantage in OT. It really shouldn't disrupt much since it will be fairly rare.
  14. That's a great one, along with all the other equipment updates.
  15. That doesn't work because I doubt anyone pictures Inky as a 5 foot tall creepy looking bald guy. I'm going to go with LGR. If anything, Inky would be Mac, swooping in immediately.
  16. They're not sour grapes. You don't get into a position like his without losing players constantly. He had guys for very short windows when he was with the US developmental program and also his time as an assistant coach at BU. He knows how things work. Hell, he himself didn't stick through college his full four years (granted, he left to try to make the Olympic team).
  17. I've never quite understood how people call themselves purists when trying to shoot down things like bigger nets. Look at all the changes we've seen over the years, whether its no touch icing or moving the nets closer to the end boards (and then further away again). Did those same purists have issues with those changes too? The game is constantly changing, so the purist defense just seems lazy to me.
  18. "I'll give you 4 space yen a season over a period of 5 fezzigs." There, we didn't talk actual terms.
  19. I can't wait until it leaks out who voted for him. These award voting systems always seem dumb to me, but this one takes it to a new level.
  20. Ties are still going to happen. Now just try to picture yourself as the fan who just sat through a game that in the end means absolutely nothing. That system would anger a lot of people.
  21. I just want to know which poster is the one lurking third in line, waiting to "accidentally" drop a magnum condom out of his wallet.
  22. That's why I said distant future. It might be something like 20+ years, but I think they go there some day.
  23. At least it still involves multiple people actually having to play some sort of positional game. I personally can't wait to see it. Regular season overtime is pretty much a sham as is, so they might as well open it up a bit. I still think less players on the ice is where the game will eventually go to in the distant future.
  24. Demonstrate value Engage physically Nurture dependence Neglect emotionally Inspire hope Separate entirely
  25. I'm sure it's a dumb question, but can you look for work in Rochester?
