  1. Firing him at any point during the season would qualify as arbitrary. To remove that label they would have had to do exactly what they should have done and fire him during the past offseason… especially since they knowingly brought in the replacement already .
  2. I wasn’t alive for either of these hires. That timeline is crazy. It does make me wonder now what proportion of GM hires around the league are fist timers. Maybe this number isn’t all that crazy.
  3. What’s so wrong about telling a guy that his mustache needs to go?
  4. When was the last time the Sabres hired an experienced NHL GM, someone who previously held an NHL GM job? I think it’s Bowman. Think on that one for a second.
  5. That's why my version of the story is way more natural. Anyone in the crowd who knew Jerry immediately gave Smell a high five.
  6. With Kekalainen out of country and no press conference until tomorrow morning, how much is there really to say at this moment?
  7. The extensive search was for the senior advisor. That’s explicitly mentioned in the statement. But yes, we can all read between the lines and see that the initial search back in the summer was for the new GM.
  8. They could have saved themselves a lot of time by just reading one of his columns. That’s all the reason anyone ever needed to give him the axe.
  9. And the right there is the summary of most of the last 14 years.
  10. You conveniently left out the “FU” you also included before yelling his name.
  11. Whatever is going on, the players already know. I don't know that there's any emotional response when it officially happens.
  12. Didn't that suggested nepotism die the second they left Arizona though? Shane's already with Toronto at that point, so the city was their only remaining tie to him. I'd say it's far more simple and they added the guy right as he was in the middle of his breakout.
  13. Seeing as how Josh was made for this town, clearly he goes a little too hard at a tailgate before each game.
  14. It’s hard to believe that we used to live in a world where Sullivan and Bucky Gleason had the same employer. Those truly were the best of times.
  15. Isn’t it part of that story that he’s completely blowing off rehab for his knee injury?
  16. I’m amazed at how long it took the broadcast to realize that Norris was tripped.
  17. There’s a history of cut and pasting full articles here.
  18. Given your history, it took me multiple reads before I realized that you said Indiana and not India.
  19. Sure, plagiarize away.
  20. Two weeks in a row I haven’t been able to watch or read anything here until after the game. Two weeks in a row specific people disappear after halftime.
  21. How many teams are carrying 3 right now? It’s something that seems tho have popped up a bit more in recent years. I don’t know if it’s the lower quality of goaltending around the league or waiver rules, but there’s been more of it. I know Carolina has 3 right now. And if you want high quality hockey coverage, you should check out what they have going here. I turned it on randomly a day or two ago and they were talking about potential trade targets for Anderson. The host seriously offered up Buffalo and Tage Thompson as an option. This guy is officially the Wookiee of Carolina coverage.
  22. I just think it’s always good form to credit the work you are trying to pass off as your own.
  23. He had 4 points in 5 games when Chicago unloaded him. That timing was a bit odd.
  24. And Östlund had to play a game in Rochester before he could be called back up. So someone else had to fill that one game hole. It’s a little odd that they’d add a contract just to do that.
