  1. It’s not owners fighting owners because one guy is an owner and the other is not. The roles are about to flip, but again, it still isn’t two owners. And I’m not just talking specifically about arena deals. There is going to be plenty of backstabbing going on within each of the leagues. Hell, look who the NFL had been willing to work with for so long.
  2. I’m willing to bet that we could find an unending list of things like this happening over the years. They’re not losing any sleep over it with their billion dollar deal.
  3. I’m not on the Ruff bandwagon but I have to ask. Your wording above to me sounds like you’re putting Gallant on a level above Ruff (if that’s not right, ignore rest). I’m just not seeing that from their resumes. I thought, ok, maybe age is a factor but Lindy is only 4 months later. Gallant does have a very slightly higher points percentage, but he spent very little time coaching pre-shoot out, which I think washes out that difference.
  4. Carolina plays this game of chicken with people every year. At some point they’re going to crash. I doubt that time is now, but it’s coming.
  5. Quinn bounced around for a while until he got what could have been the life job. He was replacing a legend, so it’s definitely a special case. Carle has pretty much never left Denver since he started school. So that’s pretty much half his life at this point. So maybe he does know the feel of being a lifer. The Hakstol one is a much better comparable, 15 or so years with the Sioux. But whatever, I’d say the Adams presser makes it obvious they won’t be talking to Carle.
  6. He’s in a special spot where he could probably have a job for life if he wants it. I’m not sure how many of those situations exist anymore. Quinn and Hakstol left similar spots within the last 10 years and I wonder if they regret it at all, bouncing around every 3 years or so. Carle is so young though. I wonder how much a 34 year old thinks about being a lifer.
  7. Im not sure why that is overrated. It looks like it is exactly what you are saying. He spent $10 for what should have cost $5, just like Botterill sold stuff for $5 that should have cost $10. I’m not sure what the point of captain hindsight game is. The value of the pieces 10 years later doesn’t not outweigh the value of the pieces at the actual time of the trade.
  8. Hindsight is a fun thing. You wouldn’t take that stance before the trades happened. Back at that point shouldn’t all of those pieces landed you 2 or 3 Ryan O’Reillys?
  9. It’s amazing how not a single person has listened to you. We’d rather complain and assume the worst instead. I would have thought that their contract status would have been the very first thing to come to mind when they weren’t included. And as for the Lindy crowd out there: Lindy Ruff would be the best Sabres coach since Lindy Ruff.
  10. My neighbors have just started a 2.5 month project building an extension on their house. In other news, my two year old will be entertained for the next 2.5 months.
  11. I can’t wait until tomorrow for the next tweet: Nikita Kucherov becomes the first player since Connor McDavid to record 100 assists in a season.
  12. And it does go a long way to supporting the piece of team building that people seem to miss all the time: player development. There are always going to be those can’t miss guys out there. For the vast majority of the rest, I do think that winding up in the right situation is probably the most important factor.
  13. of course, but he much closer the the latter. I haven’t read the article since I’m not a subscriber. I’d imagine they outlined the definition of exactly what players they were ranking. All this prospect definition talk ignores that and just becomes a matter of semantics instead. Whatever their definition is (if the word prospect was even used), they think Buffalo has the best. Let’s not move the goal posts in order to debate that stance. edit: And wait a second. I know they weren’t originally your words, but multiple cups? No current NHL player has been alive long enough to see two cups in Boston. Theirs is not a legacy of winning the cup.
  14. I wonder if Dell is a free agent again.
  15. You say that, but I think Adams could find away to get under that goalie signing limbo bar.
  16. Are you arguing with yourself right now? I’m not really sure how a quick two sentences about a 21 year old having plenty of room to grow leads to all of this. Maybe I jumped into a different conversation that I didn’t read. I don’t know.
  17. You know how people like to use the word literally too much…
  18. What kind of veteran goalie though? I think he fully expects a 1A/1B situation between 6K (there you go, @Hank) and Levi. Any veteran would be that #3 type spending most of the time in the AHL. I don’t want to see that, but it’s what I expect.
  19. At least when it comes to Power, I have no problem with the word prospect being thrown around. A 21 year old is nowhere close to being a final product.
  20. I know this conversation was held elsewhere, but I’m not really sure where you got the prospect part from. Botterill traded 3 total: Pu, Guhle, and Nylander. Murray matched that count in just the O’Reilly deal.
  21. At least they called a couple penalties against Denver in the final.
  22. Tuch and Hutson signed. Watch them win the lottery and add Celebrini too. They’re getting the band back together.
  23. I had no idea that you’re only 15 years old.
  24. I heard random talk on the radio earlier today saying that this move would need some division realignment. Why? Sat Lake City is actually closer to the rest of the division than Phoenix. It looks like Dallas is the only team increasing their travel after this.
