I had no idea that he ranked so highly among goal scorers in his draft year. Nice little stat there. Anyway, I can't wait for that day 2-3 years from now where he's a complementary player on this team as opposed to our top guy. That's when we start winning and he should be a key piece in that.

They do a ton of conferences here where doctors from all over the country come and give talks about specific topics. Most of the time I never think twice about them and don't even look at the announcements. Today I just happened to catch a sign out of the corner of my eye. A doctor I used to work with on just about everything 5-10 years ago but never actually met is giving a talk at noon in our building. It'll be good to put a face to the name so many years later.

That wasn't his point whatsoever. X spelled it out pretty clearly. Bettman is beyond awkward during that entire ceremony. If they can find a way to improve that, they should. But let's face it, if by this point he hasn't figured out how to do the presentation, he never will. If they can find a way to make the whole thing less clunky, they should do it. Hell, all he really has to do is talk less and the problem is solved.

I wish there was some way to do a Masters like ceremony where the previous winner hands it off. That would never fly though. I could see there being way too much animosity out there.

They did it with Hossa, but for whatever reason, he appears to be one of those Selanne-like immortals. I guess he's not that old yet, but we should see very soon how/if his contract handcuffs them at all.

It's no rumor. I saw a picture on facebook the other day posted by Grigorenko, mentioning being there for the wedding. I have no idea why it showed up in my feed, but it did.

Home inspections are a crazy process, even on new construction. We had ours today and its amazing what they can find. Still, to me it counts as fantastic not only because we close next week, but also it was a very interesting process to be a part of.

I'm still not following on the logic of multiple teams moving. Right now we have 14 in the west and 16 in the east. That's what they're going to stick with. So Phoenix leaves the west, one team from the east gets bumped out west. They may shuffle the divisions within each conference to account for this, but at the end it will still be 16 east, 14 west. I don't think they want a scenario where within a conference, the divisions have an unequal amount of teams.

Give him a little time. That complaining doesn't start until after the honeymoon. If he's posting during that, it's already doomed.

Respk pretty much just answered this for me, but the reason for not making this offer has nothing to do with "hurting some GMs feelings" as you're suggesting. You can't honestly thing that's what is going through someone's mind when they consider it, "Awww, I'm gonna hurt little Timmy's feelings". That's absurd. They don't do it because they don't find the price to be worth it, both in contract and in compensation.

So not making offers to RFA now makes a GM a wimp? You realize by that standard, eessentially every GM in the NHL is a wimp, right? As best as I can tell, Doug Wilson (Hjarlmarsson - 2010) and Jim Rutherford (Fedorov - 1998) are the only current GMs who have done it.

Why would two need to move? They're going to keep that 16/14 imbalance until they expand.

I'll ask the uncomfortable question. What if they are more likely to be a threat?

I can't wait until next season. I have decided that I will root for the Utah Jazz and the Colorado Rockies. I'm going with a mountain theme with my teams this year. Last year I went with nothing but teams named after birds and it didn't work so well. And forget about that year where I went all out teal. :sick:

All of NG's posts are actually typed while wearing a glove stolen from Neuvirth back when he was with the Crapitals. It's actually quite amazing how few typos he makes.

All this talk of Rush made me realize that it has been 12 or 13 years since I went to one of their shows. I visited my brother in San Antonio that year and right as I got off the plane, he said "hey, I've got Rush tickets for tonight". So that was definitely an unexpected show. You have to love that they're still out there playing shows. I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan and I hope that they'll do the same for another 20 years (they seem to be the types who will).

As long as she shows up, you're good.
