  1. Only if he prematurely trades away his incredible return from that Kessel trade.
  2. I don't like thinking of any of these as a single year tank. The whole thing should be viewed as a whole. This whole thing has netted us McEichel, Reinhart, Kane, and I'll also include Ristolainen/Zadorov too. This thing has been in motion for a few years now, so there are more names you can add to that list as well, between the 2012 draft and any other prospects added/drafted after we started selling off assets. No one knows if it will work out, but there sure as hell is a lot more excitement around here than we've had in a long time.
  3. It doesn't need to be one or the other either. I can't imagine there is anything from stopping him from having a policy through BU AND one of his own. It's all kind of pointless though, because as you suggest, he's leaving.
  4. So he has to end up in Toronto, right?
  5. I miss the pominstein filter. We need a modern version of that.
  6. So that's why my neck/shoulder has been bugging me lately? Good to know.
  7. Why would LaFontaine need to win favor with Sabre fans? That would be like Andre Reed needing to win over Bills fans (ok, I'll admit, I couldn't find a good Bills analogue for LaFontaine).
  8. That was BuffalOhio. My hatred of the stripes was well documented around here years ago.
  9. Which begs the question that if you have such opposing view, why did you hire that guy in the first place? Every defense I've ever heard for LaFontaine leaving implies that he was a buffoon.
  10. You're allowed to tell them to go have another donut, but that's it.
  11. I'll take it one step further. Seriously, who drops their gloves at any level of beer league hockey? It takes a special breed of moron for that. Clearly this guy has some Boston in his blood.
  12. If anything, those comments related to LaFontaine make Pat look incompetent. To hire a guy and then run away a few months later, you really have to wonder what is going on in his head. Like Nolan, LaFontaine now has a documented history of not being able to work well with others. Maybe both situations really did suck and he is completely innocent with each, but there has to be a cloud of uncertainty hovering over him as well. I loved LaFontaine as a player and as an ambassador to this community, but I sure as hell don't want him running my organization at this point.
  13. I just remember seeing some ugly jerseys displayed at some point.
  14. He needs to watch far more than his hand. That's not the heimlich maneuver he's giving there.
  15. It was definitely a product of their era. Those Kariya numbers are just flat out absurd. They still can be a bit liberal in handing out secondary assists today, but there was a lot more of it back then. There's also a strange bit of record keeping for that season where they included stats from exhibition games in his season total (a pair of double digit wins). Eichel would have had 8 more points this year if exhibitions counted for him. And actually, speaking of exhibitions, I completely missed it earlier this year, but Eichel actually played in one this year against BU. They scrimmaged the world junior team right before that tournament.
  16. Is it possible for me to take votes away from the Quincy Youth Arena? I always hated that one.
  17. They used to have astronomy classes at BU looking at stuff in the sky while on top of one of the buildings on campus. Of course, they were in the middle of the city and Fenway Park was less than a mile away. Thanks to all that light pollution, the classes pretty much turned into, "hey, you see that thing right there? that's the moon". They never did plan that out too well. And as for awesome, I'm supposed to be getting a new niece tomorrow.
  18. Physics always posts those conversion factors, doesn't he?
  19. At least that suggested nickname of oreo never took off with Grigorenko.
  20. I don't know if it is a popular opinion around here or not, but I have absolutely no problem with what Arizona did. They got a really good return in the deals they made. They're going to have a very good group of prospects which they can use to make something happen, even if they fall out of the #2 slot in the draft. And speaking of that team, I can't be the only one who regularly catches himself typing "Phoenix" before changing it.
  21. I'd say screw nicknames all together, that and initials.
  22. Can he make them balloon animals?
  23. They definitely protect their hockey players at BU.
  24. What is that, some sort of porn convention or something?
  25. As most of you know I'm typically pretty aware of what is going on in BU circles, but this is the first time I have seen any question of his grades. That's not to say he might not have low numbers, but the term academic probation has never once been uttered. Then again, when a player knows they are a one and done, they only have to try for one semester. The numbers being stated sound like a re-creation of the Chris Bourque story from 10 or so years ago.
