Sabres hiring Jarkko Ruuttu for hockey ops job
French Collection replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Perhaps, the people getting the jobs are from minority groups though. He has only been applying for promotions the last few years, they may think he’s too old now. He’s got a good work history but has started making waves since being passed over. -

I can not explain how tickled I was watching Alien: Earth. I mean throw a Zenomorph into anything, and I’m game but the acting by Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant and a couple others is fantastic. The other aliens are super creepy, the dystopian money rules society is about as realistic as future as I can picture. Just thoroughly enjoyable. -

Power finished 3rd in rookie of the year voting. He had 35 points and was +10 playing 23 minutes a night with Henri Jokiharju and Ilya Lyubushkin. My God people, why this desperate need to rewrite history? -
Whats your team name lol? Not sure if I have the horses to make a trade but with Evans going down, leaves me open for a spot

Rasmus Dahlin was pretty good playing defense his rookie year too. You'd have a hard time proving Myers or Risto were rushed considering their long careers. Cozens, idk, I think he just reached his peak and fell off. I guess we'll know after Ottawa plays him this season. Every single nhl team though, has a Myers prospect or a Ristolainen. A first round guy that didn't spend 2-4 years at a lower level. -
Or, you know, don't play Power 23:48 per game in his rookie season. And get him a stalwart, experienced, defensive D-man who can cover up his mistakes, clear the crease, and protect him. These guys are out there every offseason -- get one who is between 28-32 years old and tell them you can ship them to a contender if you're not in playoff contention -- because that's how Adams wins. In Powers' rookie season: Luke Schenn was 33, Brenden Dillon 32, etc., etc., etc. Then, play them as a third pair for 14:00/night EV, and give Power some PP time. Invest in your #1OA investment! Erik Johnson was a year or two too late, and no longer capable of being that guy. Heck, Kesselring still hasn't proven he can be that guy. Certainly not yet in the playoffs. Jokiharju, who is underrated by this board, is a good defensive player. He plays the system, he does what the coach asks, but he is not big/strong, crease-clearing force. In Powers' rookie season, he was only 23 years old. He wasn't the fit.

If anyone is interested in working on a trade, I have a handful of WR I would part ways with in exchange for a TE and/or RB.

There's a difference between us using that language on here and our elected officials using it on national platforms inciting way too many of our populace. It was republicans doing it in the past, and im positive they will again with the next democrat president. Currently, it's the democrats doing it with Trump in office. Honestly, I think the democrats have really ratcheted up the calls for violence because Trump is so devicive.

True. And once again those celebrities mean dollars for Disney/ABC so your point about the money previously is again validated.
-
If I'm reading this correctly, Pegula spent: $91.5M in real money (projected) on NHL player salaries this season as opposed $86.5M last year, and $63.3M in 2021/22. https://www.spotrac.com/nhl/buffalo-sabres/cash/_/year/2025 His internal cap doesn't seem to be written in stone.

Do you have a honest suggestion on how to stop it before it happens? I don't believe the half dozen or so that post here snarking at each other will have an impact. -
Right. We were making different points.
-
It works better if you @Taro T
-
And I replied specifically to taro and his comments, not you. But yeah, I understand how we lose track of stuff like that. We’ve all been there.
-
They have disabled deferments as of the new CBA but when did they state the cap hit will reflect the true AAV with deferments?
-
Has anyone seen Taro? Taro, if you still want to be in this league, please send me your email address so I can send you an invite. If you changed your mind, please let me know. I will be on vacation for a week and would prefer not to have to deal with this while I’m gone.

They also had a lot of celebrities calling them out as well. It's tough to make movies if you can't get celebrities to work with you. I'm waiting to see if there's suddenly something else that comes up that gets Kimmel off the air... I like a good conspiracy.

The question is... are you actually willing to sit around until that happens or try to stop it before it happens? -

10m AAV? 😱 The question isn’t how much the cap goes up, instead, what is Pegula’s internal cap going to be if the cap limit does explode? I don’t care short term or long term, I would be very leary about giving Tuch that kind of money.
-
The smell of sarcasm is thick in here. Phew.

That won't appreicably lower the cap hit. The deferred money (if it's spelled out exactly what he'll get in years 9+) will lower the hit SLIGHTLY as for cap purposes the money would have its NPV in each of those years calculated and used in the cap hit calculation. And if it's that $1MM (or $2MM as the case may be) of today's money will be defered until later regardless of the vehicle it is parked in; then there won't be any cap savings as the cap gets charged the full face value of the deferred money. Also, realize, and expect that you do, am stating this for people reading that aren't particularly familiar with the CBA & MOUs, that the deferred money would get paid out to him in those future years regardless of his contract situation (aka whether he were still playing & regardless as to whether it was still as a Sabre or not). Other than for the look of it (hey, this guy's getting money after the contract is over, this must be circumvention; even though when you actually look at it, it isn't circumvention and every $ gets accounted for in the cap in the season it is earned) not sure why the players let the owners get rid of it. It gives guys the external discipline of living on less money than they really have and gives them a pretty significant income in their post playing years. Yes, if you have a good financial advisor you're likely better off having the money now rather than later; but a lot of these guys never went to college and it isn't always easy to figure out what advisor to trust. (All sorts of horror stories of bands, actors, and athletes getting swindled by people they trusted. They aren't the rule, but there's enough that they need to be ware.)

Fine, I'll be in for union pub, if I can find it lol (hello Google maps) I'm still a big fan of the 1970s club in the area for bang for your buck and big variety of good eats
