LTS Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago 19 minutes ago, PASabreFan said: Would a loss tonight mark the lowest point in Sabres history? If I look at this question and then I frame it around the following "The Sabres are currently extending the NHL record for seasons without making the playoffs." I come to the conclusion that each day they lose a game they set the NEW lowest point in Sabres history. Even if they win a few, until it puts them into a playoff position, they are still "out of they playoffs". Every loss lowers their chances of making the playoffs this season and each season they don't make it furthers the record of futility. No other NHL team, let alone Sabres team, has ever been this pitiful over this stretch of time. So yes, a loss tonight marks the lowest point in Sabres history, even if it is only marginally lower than where they were at after the last loss. 2 1 1 1 Quote

I feel we say this above every game. And it won’t be the last time either. 1 1 Quote
CallawaySabres Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago At least the season lasted through November, so that is a step forward. Only 4 and a half months of meaningless hockey left. Hopefully next year they can make it to January. Only 2 points from being dead last in the entire NHL 😵💫 Quote
Mustache of God Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago A loss tonight could help turn this season around if it finally makes Pegula clear out the front office. Quote

Barring a 20-game losing streak (which won't happen, they're talented enough to win 1 game per week), the earliest that Pegula would take any action in the front office is at the Olympic Break. But even then, what would the change be? Jarmo to GM? Then he has to get Pegula's approval to trade the equivalent of Joker for a 4th? Could Jarmo hire DeBoer and a completely new coaching staff while the current guys were still under term? Unlikely to be approved. The front office won't change until the summer. And then, assuming Emperor Sheevyn is still involved, it's a "no-stones-unturned" coaching search that selects... Appert. 1 1 Quote
PerreaultForever Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Well they suck, but they are a defensive team so they might give them problems just like Philly did. One would think Sabres would be motivated after the other Calgary loss and bring their best but who knows. Greenway hat trick maybe 🙂 Quote

Yes, every game is either the final straw or the beginning of the turnaround. No in-betweens. This post should honestly be pinned at the top of every GDT Edited 1 hour ago by Thorny 1 Quote

No, the lowest point in franchise history always comes with the turn of your day calendar. Every day is the new lowest point as we are further from the playoffs with no action being taken. Every day the decision is made to make no changes is objectively worse than the one that came before 1 hour ago, LTS said: If I look at this question and then I frame it around the following "The Sabres are currently extending the NHL record for seasons without making the playoffs." PickaPecaPickles Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago I’m taking the Tage Thompson approach to the Sabres: sometimes I’ll be interested and motivated to watch: and sometimes I won’t. 1 Quote

Thorny Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago (edited) When we eventually make the playoffs it’s going to be incredibly fun if I’m alive. But it’s gonna be incredible I imagine this place will also (finally) be opened up to a world of new conversation and posters will really get a chance to shine There are a lot of folks being let down by an in-opportunity to experience a non-historical drought landscape - and the conversations that will come from simply being able to talk about an actual hockey team Edited 1 hour ago by Thorny 2 Quote

If Benson and Doan are re-signed and they get a goalie and they don't trade TNT/Dahlin, then I think they make an appearance before the end of Dahlin's current contract. They are then cast aside by Montreal/Ottawa/Tampa/Boston in the opening round. Probably back out the following season and then it's breaking up this core (Dahlin/TNT/Power). 1 Quote

The sub .500 section in the beginning, everyone was still in love with the team and was hopeful. The 16 yr falloff is still trending down. Yeah, we are at a lowest point. Unfortunately, LTE and Thorny are also correct as the next game is going to be another lowest point, and the next one after that. Quote
