I think Norris' timeline was 1 month but I am not sure.

Tage is taking heat here at Sabre Space.  7 games with 1 goal, 4 points and a -7 is not helping.   He is pressing out there no doubt.

I expect he will get on a hot streak and the goals will come.

Slow start last year too, no? Some of the slow starts we’ve seen probably balance with some of the heaters cooling off

Edit: it was 2 years ago. 1 point first 6 games

This thread is very funny.  Talk about a little premature

JJP, age 23, 245 gp 69g, 85a, 145 pts

Doan, age 23, 68gp, 14g, 19a, 33 pts.

Yeah but as you constantly say, the Sabres rush players and stump their development.  Now you want to use that against Doan who was brought along slower and that's what's funny.

Doan and JJP are two different players with different abilities and attributes. From a talent standpoint, JJP is more talented, especially offensively. But from a roster building standpoint, Doan adds something that was desperately needed.

I’m sure Peterka will do well in Utah. And from a Utah perspective it was a good deal for them. On the other hand, from a Sabre standpoint, it addressed a big need for us. If you factor in the addition of Kesserling in the deal, then it was a beneficial deal for us. In general, this was a fair deal for both franchises.

So Kesselring was the throw in?

No. It was part of a package. If either one of the two former Utah players were not part of the trade proposal, I don’t believe that the deal would have been made.

Tage appears to be pressing. As you well know, his goals usually come in spurts. Very often when you try to do too much, you end up doing less.

Is Norris expected to come back this season? I'm aware that he has been injured prone but that was a big loss, especially for Tage. It seemed that last night Tage was playing a lot of solo hockey untethered to the line he was on.

From what I've seen/read, he's expected back sometime in November, probably later in the month.  I can't say how accurate that is, but that's what I've seen out there.

You know one of the 1st things I look for in a scouting report? Motor. If it's not mentioned, fine. If it's mentioned negatively, bad bad. Positively, tell me more. Motor sometimes comes across as "relentless" or "high work rate" but Buffalo needs more.

Also Nikita Klepov. We need to draft him.

When the Athletic rates prospects, one of the factors they name and consider is "Compete" which I would equate to "Motor."  Doan has it in spades and the Sabres have lacked players with it for years.  Benson has it too.  While talent cannot be overlooked, the Sabres have had plenty of talent over the years, but severely lacked in compete.  The best players in the NHL are those that have both.  Guys like McKinnon, the Tkachuk brothers, etc.  I hate Marchand, but he has both too.  McDavid is top of the talent scale and seems to have the "Motor"/"Compete" as well.

The thread is not premature.  I wrote it.  I used words like "so far," "small sample size," "if...turns out to be," "don't want to be unrealistic," etc.  The idea was to take the temperature of the board on the comparison as it sits right now.  As a fan that's watched a few games so far, the thought has crossed my mind how Doan's impact & value compares to Peterka's, and based on the responses, it appears to have crossed others' minds too.

While Doan is more than a "throw in," it's not really debatable that Kesselring was the main piece coming back to the Sabres in the trade.  If Doan brings more to the team than Peterka brought, exclusive of what Kesselring eventually brings (or doesn't bring, as may be the case), it would be pretty remarkable.  And, based on what we've seen SO FAR, it's entirely possible.

Apparently Doan jerseys are sold out at the Sabres store. They will have more tomorrow.

Did Peterka jerseys ever sold out? If not than Doan wins😛😁

I think Doan will be a fan favourite in short order and future Captain like his dad.

I was happy to see Doan coming to Buffalo.  Word out west is that he played with a high motor.  Comparables to his Dad’s work ethic and personality were flattering, but can he finish?   That is the question.  So far in Buffalo he is making things happen and bringing a work ethic to the rink that Buffalo fans want to see.

It’s early, but Doan is settling in.  Hope the long winter doesn’t bother him, he is a desert kid.

Maybe a younger Zucker????

From Mid December until Mid March, I think the Sabres are on the road for 20 or more games, meaning he will be out of town for probably close to 40 of those 90 days.  Then the team has a 19 day break in the middle of February, which I would think many/most of the players can take that on a vacation out of town, and he will spend less than 1/2 of the worst months of winter in Buffalo.

It is a bit different when a guy buys a house in the area and their wife/girlfriend is here has 2 feet of snow in the driveway in January, while the players are on a west coast road trip.

Is that a real picture of a real person that will be drafted soon?!

Man, I feel old.

That would be good.  But I dream that he evolves closer to his father’s production of 402 goals, 972 points, 1353 PIM, 1540 GP.

no pressure kid.

Then why can't you say we won the trade in your description?  Why does it have to be, it was good for both teams?

Instead of saying ‘won the trade,’ I ask if we got better.  And I think we got better with this trade.

And if you got better, you won the trade.  There's just too many posters that refuse to say anything positive, even when they're trying to attempt to.  It's like a phobia.
