Going to say it out loud, Tuch is mailing it in in my opinion and that needs to stop. He’s still playing well but he’s avoiding scrums and kind of just floating around at times. Hopefully as they keep winning and the contract gets closer that comes to an end. Net front presense as mentioned by others...his analytics look good...Lindy is giving him a lot of ice time. Those are all good things. But if he wants $10m per year on a medium-to-long term deal, he needs to do all that AND score. 4 1 Quote

mjd1001 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago OK, Ellis was good enough. Lots of rebounds, he wasn't great. I don't think "can he be great" this year is important. Is he a guy that mentally is good enough to be a decent backup goalie though? A guy you can rely on for 20-30 starts? Quote

PerreaultForever Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Detroit's a very similar team to the Sabres. Play similar too but on this night not as good. Some young names I didn't recognize. I imagine their fans would say the same thing about the Sabres. Open ice low physicality game, and Sabres usually thrive on those. Specialty teams better for the Sabres. Still lots of mistakes though and sloppy at times. That will sink them in different games but enjoy the moment. I liked this Ellis kid. He's positionally sound, didn't panic, tracked the puck well and made some good saves. rebound control needs work but overall pretty good. I see potential and I don't know what they will do with goaltending but we might regret losing him if we do waive him. nice to win but I don't think either team really impressed and they definitely aren't any better. Rasmus_ Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Östlund, Kozak, Doan, Quinn, Timmins, Ellis, all had really strong showings in no particular order. Tuch was really active as well. 1 Quote

LGR4GM Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago I miss the sword but I guess the belt is cool too. Ellis deserved it but so did Jack Quinn. Where was this Jack Quinn? Like where do they hide him? 1 Quote
That Aud Smell Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Great game. Fun game. The boys were buzzing. The barn was noisy. Ellis showed out in Game 1. Let’s Go, Buffalo!! (And get well, Zucker.) 5 Quote

The rehab stint maxes out at 14 days. If Lyon keeps up his pace, Ellis may very well only get 1 more start over that time. I don’t know if the picture will be any more clear at that point. I’m seeing a 3 headed monster in our future… at least for a couple weeks while the dust settles. 1 Quote

erickompositör72 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago (edited) I understand not getting over our skis about Ellis, but the critiques some of you guys are making are laughable. He had some rebounds? Have you ever watched top-tier goaltenders before? They give up some rebounds, too! My word! Granted, we need to see much more. But a debut performance with a .92-something S% is as good as you're going to see. Edited 3 hours ago by erickompositör72 1 3 Quote

PerreaultForever Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Timmins is a much better penalty killer than Clifton was so I guess Adams won that trade as well. 5 1 Quote
Ross Rhea Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago What if this group of guys makes the playoffs this year, do we have to give GMKA credit? 1 Quote
LGR4GM Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Zucker being injured suckssssss. He's a veteran leader and we don't have a lot of wingers to plug into his role. They'll probably put Krebs there but honestly I hope the give Rosen a shot. I say Rosen because you either are gonna have something or we can all move on. Greenway coming back also puts a time cap on that anyway. Quote
