The JBD thing has me puzzled.

How is he worse than Bryson?  Anyone have any fancy stats on this?

He's not. I don't wanna look up Bryson's stats... but I will.

This

why are we acting like moving out bad players he signed is progress

embarrassing

Kevyn dealt a bad player and a bad contract for an asset. It’s progress if the money is used to make us better. It’s more of the same if it’s to save Terry money.

At 5v5

Jacob Bryson: 44.44xGF%, 46.17cf%, 43.17HDCF% in 631mins

Jacob Bernard-Docker: 52.13xGF%, 47.97cf%, 53.16HDCF%, 208mins

I thought Ventura and those guys were suppose to be advanced stat geeks with they joined.  I’m with @dudacek and thought we were going to moneypuck our way back to relevance but hardly any of the decisions seem to favour the advanced stats and most decisions haven’t worked out.  Amazingly overrated like our goalie coach from a couple years ago….

A year has gone by. How many do you think you get? That’s not progress

it’s literally a mulligan, a redo, a waste of one year of our time

Kevyn Adams is our GM. You can either hope he’s developing and learning from mistakes or you can resign to thinking he’s a bumbling fool. Both of those things can also be true.

You think Adams is listening to Ventura more or Ruff?

So 2/3rds of the NAK, Lafferty, Malenstyn revamped 4th line that was supposed to help get the team to the playoffs last year is now off the team one year later. I wonder if Malenstyn gets traded later today.

Those three were exactly what they were expected to be.  They were filling spots left by departures of the previous 4th line, allowing the Sabres to not have to pull prospects out of Rochester and let them develop.  They were never intended to be long term members of the team.  For as much as people like to bag on them, it was better to have them it was better than having a line of 3 kids trying to learn to play shut down minutes on the fly.

Now add a center to the team that is better than the current next in line option Kozak.

...although I don't think Kozak is a bad option.  I thought he acquitted himself well on his limited NHL time last season.

Lafferty, Reimer, Aube-Kubel, Gilbert, Peterka, Clifton, Jokiharju, and Cozens

That’s 8 guys gone from last year’s team including 4 guys Adams brought in last summer.

Those first four were definitely non-permanent, transitional players.

Would you prefer he stood pat and brought them all back?

I think that's what threw us off.

I have come around on Kesserling and Doan after looking into the analytics more.  Still think its a bad trade but the players didn't make the trade.

No I’d prefer we wished him the best in his future endeavours

There have been two decisions where the analytics team took the lead in the decision-making process, Zach Benson and Ryan McLeod

He has been here for like 5 years now tho no?

True.  And if he hasn't been heard in the 1st 4 or so years; why would we expect Adams to listen to him now?

That 2016 draft totally hosed us.  Pegula was smarter than Murray about Chychrun and Forton was smarter than Murray about McAvoy.  Not sure either has been right about any players since, but that ONE TIME ...

I like that they're buddies who are bringing an open mind and a willingness to hurt the other team.
