One thing I am looking forward to is watching Kesselring hammer slapshots. His shot is only outdone by Tage's. Dahlin is very close behind in top shot speed. The other teams are going to be limping off the ice if they get in the way of that trio. You want to block this? Go ahead make my day.

Just watched Kesselring’s fights on YouTube. Doesn’t look like he’s necessarily good at it but he’s certainly willing. Thank goodness for that.

I do like that Doan has had a very good Corsi relative to his team the last couple seasons as a youngster.

But he’s not provided any PK time (a few minutes over 2 seasons). 60% o zone starts overall. Fairly protected thus far it would seem on the defensive side.

This made me curious. JJ Peterka started on the offensive zone 55.8% of the time at 5v5 and 65.8% of the time for all TOI.

Which makes sense for a scoring forward playing top line minutes most of the season. Ruff was heavy on the Krebs and Kozak/Lafferty lines in their d zone. 

For Doan it surprises me a bit because he’s a bottom six guy and they wanted him starting in the o zone if possible. Utah may have had a dynamite checking line though that got all their d zone starts.

I find the argument (that big, RHD-defensemen who can put up a few points have more value) compelling. I mean, I am loath to give Adams credit, but, again, the argument is compelling.

I'm not undervaluing him. I think he's a good addition. But I do think people here are undervaluing Peterka who imo has not hit his ceiling yet. Utah's top 6 with him added looks really good.

That would be why they traded for him and his contract extension.

I think Peterka is a really good player, but alas, I’m in the Adams camp on this one. I’m not concerned about the loss of offensive production, I need affordable immediate D help in the top 4, more determination in the bottom 6 and a consistently really good netminder.

peterka was a casualty of that I suspect. And I agree with the decision to move him, specifically because Adams isn’t remotely done. It’s long past due to make it happen, I’m intrigued, as others have said.

Im back in the lower 48.  Had a great trip to Alaska.  I see Peterka got his wish.  Even a 23 year old RFA just has to say the magic words.  That part of this bothers me.  

A 23 year old goal scorer should have got us more IMO but I always liked the way Kesserling plays. Big guy, solid defender, pretty tough, cheap contract for another year.  Fills a hole big hole on RHD, but now we have 27 goals to recover. 

If Doan can play even close to his Daddy’s level someday then the trade is good, but that’s asking a lot.  Hope he is more than a 4th liner.   

Oh, and JJP will just love the night life in Salt Lake.

I have no idea if Adams is done or not but I fear the end result.

I am concerned with the loss of offensive production. We are forever going back and forth and not progressing. As I said, if we gave up any number of prospects I'd love these additions but what we gave up creates an even bigger hole. Right now we still look like a farm team for the rest of the league.
