Vegas can’t help themselves? You say this like it’s a bad thing.

Think what you like but Sabres could only dream to have ownership and a GM doing whatever it takes to be relevant year in year out with a chance to win.

Marner to Vegas would be a huge move for them and he’s younger and better than Hertl. Great moves if they happen.

Vegas has destroyed their team building since winning the Cup. It will come back to bite them as there is zero loyalty to players.

I would love the Sabres to be like Vegas but I think they are going a little overboard.

If they do not trade him I expect Peterka will get offer sheeted. What Sabres do with that will be anyone's guess. Probably match and then trade.

Pretty sure you can't. At least not for a year.

It depends who makes the offer, if it's the Rangers I might let him go as don't see them significantly improved with JJP. Yet if it's Tampa mmmm tougher call.

Neither the Rangers nor the Lightning can make an offer sheet in the expected JJP $7-9.3M range. They don’t have their picks.

Only 12 teams can:

The teams I could see doing it do have their picks.  Chicago, Anaheim, Pittsburgh, Boston, and most of all Philly. Calgary, Detroit, L.A., Montreal all in there too.

Philly and Boston are the two teams I would watch the most. They do not want to wait and draft. They both think they can win now.

I'd worry more about Boston as I said. They are thinking they can get back in it quickly. So I can see them offer sheeting Peterka and if not that I think they will pay big for Boeser. Maybe more. They also might trade their pick for Dobson before Sabres even get a chance to offer theirs.

If so many teams are supposedly interested in JJP - isn’t that a sign of a player that the Sabres should keep?

Like, seriously, what are we doing here?

It doesn't matter, all these guys want out and there is nothing Buffalo can do about it.

Yes there is. They could build a team that wins.

It's too late for that, there is no improvement from year to year. Last year was a disaster so it's too late for Peterka. Now Buffalo has to make it a priority to stop this from happening to Dahlin and Tage. The moves this summer will determine if that happens.

I would argue that this is the most important season in Sabre history. If there is a repeat from last year, they will have to start from scratch, book it.

Oilers trading Evander Kane to Vancouver

Going home for a season. That's a good move for Edmonton to free up (unless retention in play) $5M for defense/goaltending.

For Vancouver, they get muscle, and maybe a longer-term hometown discount extension to wind out his career as a 3/4W. There are worse grinders out there.

Wonder if it’s for Demko?

VAN is taking on the full salary.

Outside of Zucker what deals have Adams made that helped the team improve and push them close to a playoff spot?

McLeod is okay too.

And frankly I don't have a problem with the 4th liners he brought in.  They were expendable and got dropped as appropriate.  I don't think our 4th line was the problem.

Canucks the new team to hate.  Fans not happy with this move. They didn't re-sign Boeser and then they helped a rival and took on this locker room problem child after the issues they had last year. This will go badly.

Yep especially with Quinn Hughes possibly looking to leave
