I really find it difficult to believe that this team will ever make the playoffs again. 1 Quote

It will be sooner than later when Tage adds his name to the list of people who will demand out of here. I started to think that it would be best to relocate for a year if you knew you could get a brand new team after the 2025 season. Either that or trade Dahlin, Tuch, Peterka and Tuch and start with a whole new group. It can't get any worse than it is now and maybe the next group will offer entertaining hockey once in a while. Then we can watch the next group taking turns winning the cup. There is no mystery here. Post-Regier, Pegula hired Tim Murray, Botterill, and Adams to be his GMs. And head coaches included Housley, Krueger, and now Ruff at the end of his career. Pegula has simply hired the wrong people over and over. It’s not the players. 1 1 Quote

There is one player in the entire NHL from that team. It has about as much impact on the current players and their psyche as Darcy Regier's tie. Yet here it is, still chewing on people's neurons. By all means, punt Samuelsson into the sun and curse Adams for having Power and Kulich on the ice at the same time. But please, let this one go. Cripes...it's not like I lose sleep over it. But thanks for telling me how to feel about it. I needed that. Quote

By all means, punt Samuelsson into the sun and curse Adams for having Power and Kulich on the ice at the same time. But please, let this one go. I think people would have a much easier time letting go if the team did anything to rectify their toughness issue. It was a problem 15 years ago. It’s a bigger problem today. Every player with an ounce of aggression and toughness has been jettisoned like they took a dump on the logo in the locker room. Even the mildly tough guys we’ve brought in, like Lafferty, Malenstyn, Clifton all play with a significantly less amount of aggression once they don the blue and gold. The roster needs to be gutted. It’s a sign these guys a) don’t really care about their teammates and b) don’t have the proper character this team desperately needs. You can’t have a roster entirely built with snipers, danglers and offensive D. They’ll get eaten alive by anyone giving two shits. Mediocre to bad teams like the Bruins still laugh at and toy with the Sabres. They are taunted right to their faces. They get treated like children, in part because they are. The roster needs an infusions of grown ass men who don’t need to be told to stand up for your teammates. I want guys on the roster who see one of their own laying unconscious on the ice and start committing assault on every opposing player. Even if their line mate tripped and fell, start swinging and ask questions later. 3 Quote

JP51 Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Bottom line... eventually without leadership change all players on this team will want to leave this cesspool of dysfunctional incompetance... and those that dont want to leave it... I probably dont want on any hockey team I am vested in... or at minimum question their rationale... like I am 38 from here won 5 cups and my elderly mother lives here and they are over paying me.... ok, I can get that... but other than that if you are not clamoring to leave because your desire to win and not be looked at as a member of the Mickey Mouse club of failure and laziness then I really dont want you... the rebellion within to me is the only thing that will precipitate change from above... When 2 or 3 core players bolt or request trades and the others are buzzing... maybe then TP will go... Gee! we might have a small issue here... Edited 6 hours ago by JP51 Quote

He makes a few comments through out about how hard it is not to be in the playoffs, it eats away, how it drove other players to leave and he gets that at this point in his career. Tage also mentions that he hears the noise about Buffalo and that it's hard not to. He talks about the hit where nobody jumps in and says watching the replay he wishes somebody did but everybody apologized and Lindy leaned into the group about it. Start at about 2:06:00. I wouldn't be shocked of he's the first one who asks out of here. https://youtu.be/KGlLo7Kg_Os?si=IFH2aR8awEfIhgXI That is not something to me you can ever apologize for and have it mean anything other than you know you that you are a coward and wish you were not... to me its instinct... you cant train instinct... you can have people in the future go grab someone... thats nice... but if you are on the other team... knowing that there is serious intention and instinct not just preliminary obligation when something like that happens makes a difference... I can see it playing Mites or Bantams learning this but by the time you are in the NHL you should not need to be shamed into standing up for your family... it moves to the type of player and character that the incompetents that run this team target... Watching Brad Marchand go after whoever was infront of him no matter how big speaks volumes and shows deep contrast of who and how this team is made up... It is the antithesis of what I want in a team... and as far as Buffalo and its community the antithesis of who we are... or at least how I see us as a community... family, friends first, we are in this together.. times get rough but we help out... things get gritty but we stand up... we are not privileged as a community, we don't possess as a community the type of wealth that allows for routine luxury.... its one of the reasons I believe that the community has such a disdain for this team... (outside of the perennial losing and abject incompetence) but look the Ted Nolan teams lost too... but they stood up... I would say we liked those teams much better than this... at least i did... (No dont bring back TN LOL) anyways.... Lucic didnt break the Sabres... the vision of the GMs and the type of players we need broke the Sabres... start drafting some a**holes that are tough and can play... what Lucic did means nothing... continue trading or releasing away toughness (Foligno, Kassian, Kane, Zadorov, O'Reilly, Risto, Montour, Carrier, DesLauriers, Kulikov, Stewart etc...) and rewarding weak sloth and laziness.. you get what you always got... and no I am not looking to debate the merit of these trades, if they are needed etc.. just looking to point out what happens to players that have a bit of an edge on this team.... 2 2 Quote

It was widely agreed by Gretzky et al last night that Tkachuk completely changed the culture in the Panther locker room. It made welcoming the hated Marchand possible as well. Adams doesn’t have the chops to pull off something similar. Likewise, Ruff wouldn’t have had a clue how to use them, imo. The game has passed him by. Maurice joined the Panthers in June ‘22. In three years he’s delivered 2 Cups, back to back. Sabres need a new GM, a new Coach, and a couple culture changers. Edited 5 hours ago by Believer 1 2 1 Quote

Did anyone else notice that last night Skinner seemed to be the hardest working Oiler. Maybe it's that he's better rested both physically and mentally, but had the rest of the team had his jump, it could have been a closer game last night. 1 Quote

It's not on one guy, even if yes, he should also have done something and he was right there. It's the whole team!
