Friedman says he has sources telling him the Sabres are looking to deal prospects for players.

Hopefully this is right. We're playoff bound if we can get a starting goalie that can give us 50-60 games at the level Reimer played at last year, and a partner for Power. Hopefully that will put some butts in seats and Pegula makes us a cap team again.

From there we'll have a good window to continue to build the core.

What does he mean by “Dahlin’s name came up during the season”?

Likely one of the core players who wants to win now, so he wants changes.

Either that or teams are trying to poach him from us

No idea. I actually don't like Friedman... or any of these BS artists... but Friedman is the worst of a bad bunch. I just saw the tweet and thought I'd share.

I found some more context from another site: he talked about the meeting Dahlin had where he vented his frustrations over not winning.

Keep in mind where most hockey journalists get their "scoops." From GMs and agents looking to manipulate the market.

Yeah, that's true... It's not all on the insiders, but I do find they'll say what they need to say to provide a steady stream of content.

I’m fine with that but I’d prefer player for player trades

I highly doubt the Sabres are doing that since they are the "Desperate" team in the NHL and everyone knows it. This wouldn't move the market at all for a team like this.

No but they opposite can be true. The whole "Adams overvalues his players" thing. Imagine you're a GM of a team targeting a top Sabres player/prospect. You essentially offer a bag of pucks hoping to swindle Adams who you see as  inexperienced. But he doesn't bite. What do you do next?

You run to the Dregers, Friedmans or Seravellis with the hot tip that Adams overvalues his players because you know the fanbase will go bonkers, and maybe put pressure on the Sabres. You'll notice we don't hear that trope anymore.

As to your point, I don't think the Sabres talk to any press. Note how no one knew about the Kekalainen hire before it happened. Not Dregers. Not Paul Hamilton.

Stop trying to blame fans for Adams incompetence.

It cannot be prospects only.  There is no room on the roster for roster players coming in if roster players aren’t also going out.

I am sure KA is trying to move the Beck Malenstyn’s of the roster thinking adding Isac Rosen will make it irresistible to a team like Dallas for Robertson (yeah they might fall for it LOL).  But is probably going to be more like Peterka + Kulich or that big russian defenseman, whatshisface + Byram to make good things happen.

Adams has backed himself into a corner. By not making needed moves in years prior, he has put himself in a spot where he has to make moves to save his job. And the league knows it.

Can people please stop using these ***** RUMORZZZZ social media grifter accounts that constantly take things wildly out of context and in many cases outright fabricate things?

But what else is there to talk about?

My problem is so many of you guys are really rooting for the Sabres to trade picks and prospects for players who help us win now.  Almost like “screw the future, I want to win now”.  And that’s cool.
But it’s probably some of the same people who absolutely chastised Tim Murray for doing exactly that during his time.  Now, Murray’s plan didn’t work, but he mortgaged our future to bring in players to help the team win now just like what you’re asking Adams to do.

Except when Murray got here, he drafted like *****, his predecessor had drafted like *****, and so after he did that, there was literally nothing in the pipe. Versus now, we're the youngest team in the league, we have a list of talented players in the NHL, we have good prospect depth, and we aren't trading everything, just a few pieces.

Besides, Murray traded for the booger sugar bros and captain nutjob. At least ror was a good deal.

Is it really wet or does it just create the feeling that it’s wet?

Three full off seasons later .... let trade some prospects for players!   OK.   Looking forward to seeing results.

Except Murray did not do the exact same thing.  He traded NHL players with the goal to lose on purpose.   Then he acquired the wrong players and coaches.

I thought the same thing as you when I first saw a link from this site... But they actually list Friedman's 32 thoughts podcast as a reference. If you go to the podcast Friedman actually does muse about this stuff.
