After their cup runs in his first two seasons, he was pretty damn underwhelming... 2018 - Bounced EC Semis 2019 - Swept first round 2020 - Bounced first round 2021 - Bounced first round 2022 - Bounced first round 2023 - No playoffs 2024 - No playoffs 2025 - No playoffs So, they didn't win a playoff series in his last 7 years, and missed the playoffs the last 3. They had all kinds of roster issues from about 2021-on as their big-3 aged and they struggled to put good complementary pieces around them. That Karlsson trade will always boggle my mind. But, yeah, results haven't been very good for quite a while. Quote

PerreaultForever Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago 3 hours ago, Brawndo said: Some organizations have standards, others not so much The bar for success much higher there. Once they got back in the playoffs the bar was raised to winning in the playoffs. So now it's seen as failure. As it should be. This is now also the moment a good GM needs to pounce on whoever they hire. There will be a desire for change. Maybe even change for the sake of change and that's when you can target pieces of their roster. Going to be the same for the Avs and others. These teams will not run it back as is. Sabres GM however, will just bank on Levi and complain about his palm trees and taxes. Quote
