Moose Jaw getting whipped 4-0 late in the 2nd of their opening game vs. Swift Current. I don’t see Our Boy Savoie listed on the roster for tonight’s game. Anyone know if he’s hurt. Again.

This is the height of hyperbole.  Noone is suggesting Murray made good choices.  Demonstrably, he selected poorly, both at the draft, and who he chose to trade for picks/prospects.  But that wasn’t the point of conversation.  The point of conversion was regarding whether Murray traded away too any picks, and it is a fact that he made more draft picks than we were granted through normal means.

Noone is arguing about the quality of Murray’s choices.  Do you even context?

How is this for context?  Murray acquired 1 more pick then he traded away, but downgraded the quality.

From 1/2014 to 4/2017 - Murray acquired 14 draft picks (1 1st, 5 2nds, 6 3rds, a 5th and a 7th) and traded away 13 (2 1sts, 6 2nds, 4 3rds and a 5th). However, he downgraded the quality of the draft picks.  He acquired 6 premium picks (1st & 2nd rd picks) and traded way 8 premium picks.  (a net -2 Premium picks for those counting at home).

Did he make more picks that we were allocated?  Yes, but Regier had already acquired 5 premium picks for the 2014 & 2015 drafts (and traded away a 4th rd pick) before TM was hired.  So while TM made 25 picks, the net for over the allotment is really from Regier.

Rumor is illness, not injury. Nothing official though.

I saw Kulich, Savoie and Östlund's stats this year run through an NHLe calculator this week: 24, 24 and 28 points respectively over a full NHL season.

NHLe calculator, good grief.

Don’t need to tell you guys about the flaws of +/-.

But within that context it does give you some indication of how successful a player has been in his role and relative to his team.

On a team that is -7, 20-year-old Nikita Novikov is +19, far and away the best on the Amerks.

He has 23 points in 62 games.

No idea what the underlying metrics and eye test is saying, but the numbers look promising.

Mattias Samuelsson had 12 points in 23 games as a 20-year-old rookie, and was -8 on an inferior Amerks team.

Very excited to see him on the big team eventually.

He’s a big strong confident kid. Keeps the game simple.  Couple be a great pairing with Power or Byram.

Novikov made a beautiful play on Kulich’s 2nd goal yesterday. Good move to get around a defender, drawing attention, and then making a sweet dish to Kulich alone at the net.

Good cautionary tale re Sammy

At least in terms of offence translation

Nothing meaning anything until it means something.

Well.. he could have 0G.. so it means something.

Relative to what you are looking for perhaps not.. but would you feel better he had shown no success?  It's just there for perspective.

No, of course I want them to have success while they are developing. But any success while developing should be taken with a grain of salt until it leads to professional level outcomes. I do understand the point you’re making and am happy he is so far doing well.
