Officially official

Dan Bylsma got fired because he rides the coat tails of scoring phenoms while not trusting the rest of his team to play hockey and locking them into a boring unimaginative system that is so out of date no one could thrive within it?

Well, he shouldn't be near the damn PK anyways

DD also saying on WGR that he can coach how he wants to now, with a fast game instead of slow responsible hockey

Is this more or less a direct quote?

Be still my heart.

Although, I don't think Matty Mo should be way down there.

No, that's perfect.  We don't want Matty Mo on a top scoring line.  How many 5-on-5 goals has he scored?  One?  Put someone up there you can expect to score with speed.  That said, he should still get all the PP time they can give him as long as he continues his success there.  At this stage in his career, 4th line is the perfect place to store a responsible but aging power play specialist.

Paraphrased indeed. WGR guys had an interview with him this morning and they were talking about it on my commute

I like Carrier and all, but he needs to produce or it should be a short stay for him at the top. Moulson was scoring goals on the power play, just sayin

fify

relax guys, game hasn't even started yet and we are almost at page 3

What, are you nuts?  We've been waiting all season for this. :w00t:

It was the original post in this thread that got you excited, wasn't it?  ;)

Pretty much. I was pretty much resigned that the Sabres would look the same with Jack in, but BAM! That first post just sucked me in. Now I want to binge drink so I can't remember anything between now and game time.

More proof that the boring game and the lack of offensive creativity we've seen so far this year was by design.

How successful was that Dan? Would we really have been worse off if kids like Reinhart, Baptiste and Girgensons were allowed to play and learn?

Roughly 33% successful

Man look at this thread! The only way this ISN'T the start of the season is the date on the calendar and record going in. It sure feels like the beginning.

Carrier bumped to the 1st line with ROR & Okposo. Moulson dropped to the 4th with Grant and Girgs.

Our first two lines are going to be overflowing with energy tonight. Love it.

Good move, DD. Now we have three legit fast skaters in our top six. I hope that translates to DD implementing more of a forecheck. I think he's been worried about lack of top end speed getting caught up ice and putting too much pressure on a depleted D corps that features a couple of molasses on cold days players as it is.

I'm still worried they brought Eichel back too soon, though.

Why? If he played 3 weeks ago that would have been too soon. He's had a few full practices with no issues. If he's ready to play he should play

The nature of high ankle sprains. I'm hoping Eichel is the exception to the rule that usually dictates this type of injury tends to linger and is easily re-aggravated.

I fully agree that if he's ready to play he should play. I just think, in the case of elite athletes, that there are varying degrees of "ready to play."

Carrier seems like precisely the sort of player who could slot in with a designated pairing like ROR and Okposo.

This is an exciting and unexpected turn of events. I predict success. Big League!

Not at even strength, he wasn't. Carrier's style should at least tilt the ice and give ROR/KO space. Moulson was a drag.

This is so true.

Hello Chris Neil. My name is William Carrier. Bam.

Hello Chris Neil. You might remember my father. His name is Mike Foligno. Bam.
