It could have been they weren't meeting on terms earlier, and one said, "well, we'll chat closer to the deadline" and by then, some other deals had fallen through so both teams were still looking for a trade. I know it was mostly goaltending, but in both of our spurts of better play in December and February, he was a difference maker on the ice with Gionta, especially.
