I go with, if we get McEichel, next year being 70 points or so, and the year after that being a 8-5 seed in the playoffs. A lot of that has to do with Risto, Zad,and Reinhart. I guess i am just surprised people are upset at the "way" they are losing...they have very little talent...talent with work beats work..just plain and simple. My gut is 60%-70% of this team not on opening day roster fall of 2016..i just cant get worked up by the scores right now. BTW, God Bless youth. My 13 year still watches every minute in his Molson (taped over Vanek) jersey...better fan than I Pro Tank or Anti Tank - no one is happy with a 7-0 loss. If you are on the Anti Tank side you want to see the team win. If you are on the Pro Tank side, as you mentioned, you want to see the team to lose properly. By losing properly you want to see work effort every night. Talent with work usually beats work; but we need to at least see work put in. If you are on the Pro Tank side, as you mentioned, you want to see the team to lose properly. By losing properly you want to see work effort every night. Talent with work usually beats work; but we need to at least see work put in. This times a million. I don't like watching them lose. But I want to at least see progress in the losing. This rebuild has just a good of chance of being a complete bust as it does a success. Truth. There is a lot of biased processing whereby the positive "bottoming out" examples are cited and the negative examples are ignored. Everyone clings to Pittsburgh as the exemplar of what happens when you tank to land Sydney McJesus. But, there are several teams that had 4-5 top-2 picks over a 4-5 year span and never got anywhere. Atlanta (99-02) & Ottawa (92-96) to name two. And, then there is Edmonton. Of course, the past doesn't necessarily repeat itself.... time will tell, but I think we're underestimating how long it takes players to develop. I won't speak for others, but I'm fairly certain the hit rates at the top of the draft are much higher recently than in the 90s because of scouting improvements, which is why I don't cite those tanks. And that Ottawa team you point to was an expansion team. I just don't think it's a good comparison point. Lastly, if we're not competitive within 3 years then I consider the tank a total failure. 5 years sounds like the right window, we just have to remember this whole thing really started two years ago, so we're already halfway through. There was no season before Crosby was drafted. But they did suck mightily the three season before that draft, quite a bit more than the Sabres did, who sucked in their own right. It didn't work out so well. i guess Swamp i am not getting upset cause i just see such a huge change in the roster over the next 18 months.Be first to admit i am not the guy who watches minor league or even college hockey, so have to go with what i read about our prospects.Seems Sabres are rated #1, and we have 3 more Round 1 picks this year...and maybe more after the deadline is over. If i felt we were getting McDavid and keeping 90% of this roster...holy mother of God i would be upset. Just does not feel that way to me. You can make an argument that he is one of the most valuable players on this otherwise crap team, not because of his talent but because of his effort and physical presence and the underlying pride that implies. I'm confident based on previous comments from Neuvirth and Enroth that neither of them are interested in mercy pullings. They both seem focused on just playing their game the best the can regardless of what the team in front is doing for them.
