Buffalo Bills 2015

If I'm thinking correctly, Powell may have more of an impact on re-signing Easley than he does on the current backs.

Bryce Brown is as good as gold. Freddy has one more year.

Although, I wouldn't be shocked if Freddy is elsewhere. Like Dallas. It would hurt in the lockerroom and devastate some fans, but it may be headed that way.

I explained it above. Bonuses spread out evenly throughout the contract.

Zero chance any of those big names hit the market. RG3, Foles and Bradford are the only starters with a chance of hitting the market.

If Bradford hits the market it's for the wrong reasons (poor year or another injury). Same with RG3. And Foles. Heck. Same for every good QB. They just don't hit free agency unless there is crazy circumstances.

You're probably right, but I wouldn't say 0 chance. I think out of the group, Eli has the best chance of not re-signing

Tim Graham strongly hinting that Fred Jackson is gone. Somebody said "there is zero chance they move Freddy" and he responded "You're about to fail at math." Then he went on to say that it has nothing to do with Bilal Powell... Said that the team likes McCoy as their number one and Bryce Brown as number two. Want a special teamer to be number three.

How I think Fred leaving would impact the team:

On-the-field:

Not much. He's a 34 year old running back who, despite being a rare breed of late-blooming runners, is on the downside of his career. He has had injury issues for some time. Last year was his lowest total in years that he played more than 10 games. It was also the lowest yard per carry of his career. He's slowing down and they just picked up a workhorse. His carries were going to be few and far between.

Lockerroom:

Well, he was a leader. He always seemed to be a favorite and definitely gave his all for these guys. There's good value in that, but it's worth pointing out that his leadership didn't do much, if anything, to get the team to improve.

Off-the-field:

In the community it'll be a hit, but he was likely only here for another year anyways. If he still lives here after leaving then the difference is minimal. He's a great guy and really has helped the image of the team through years of .

That's a good point, his on field production has dropped and his chances will be limited if the Bills sign Powell.

If he is released does he call it a career or does he try to sign on with a Super Bowl Contender for a season?

His chances are limited with or without Powell.

But I think he tries to go to a contender, yes. Dallas is the obvious one... Somebody on Twitter mentioned New England. That would be hard to watch.

Bills are finalizing a deal with Hughes, per Carucci.

###### yeah  :worthy:

I'd say an overly successful offseason so far for Whaley, and we haven't even hit FA or the Draft. If you would've told me in January we would resign Hughes I'd be thrilled, let alone add a vet QB to replace Orton and solve our RB issue in a major way.

Freddie makes a perfect no. 2 back at this stage of his career. He is still a very effective RB with natural skills to pick up first downs. Marcus allen played very effectively thru age 36 as he changed from a breakway guy to a short yardage specialist.

If the Bills release Freddie they are not only scum but stupid scum.--Not to cast any aspersions.

pfft....I mentioned Freddie alone...not a whole gang.

See my post above about the impact of losing Fred. Sentimentally this sucks. He was a leader and they'll need somebody else to be a voice, too, now... But it's not the end of the world. Talent-wise he wasn't worth much anymore.

I still hope the reports are wrong, but I doubt it.

Fred would kill it in the Kevin Faulk role. From a pure football standpoint I'm okay moving on (I think I'd keep him over Brown, but I won't throw a tantrum over it), but please oh please don't let him go to the Pats

Awesome :D

Peyton Manning got cut, it's a business. Does it suck that he will have played here his entire career and never made the playoffs? Absolutely, he embraced Buffalo as much as we embraced him

Methinks you got duped by a fake twitter account :)

One thing I don't like: Matt Cassel. Ian Rapoport just said that the Bills are likely to give Cassel a multi-year deal.

I sincerely hope it's just for a little more cap flexibility this year and something that's easy to get out of in the future.
