spndnchz Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Let me ask your opinion on where my friends and I should go to watch a game? Last year I went to a playoff game in Boston. This year I was thinking someplace west. Where have u guys gone? No, I'm not going to Calgary or Edmonton. Or should I?
darksabre Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 This is so easy. Dallas. or Carolina.
Claude_Verret Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Unless you are prepared to kill and eat some babies don't even think about coming here.

The Sabres always play in Tampa and Florida twice each year and the games are either back to back or one day in between.
That Aud Smell Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Montreal. i'll second that. ain't a better nhl city to visit. i recommend that you stay in old town.
shrader Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 What, no one has suggested their own home town yet?
Kevbeau Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 If you're trying to keep it to a weekend. Sabres have a Friday night in Atlanta this year late October. Then they head to Dallas for the Saturday game. There's also a Saturday night in Chicago mid-October. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you can get Thrashers tickets easier than the Hawks. *For all you stuck in Atlanta, they have in fact dropped their prices. We're first row of the 200's where the Sabres shoot twice for $30 each for the Friday night Atlanta game. $22 for the same seats for the Wed Oct 20th game. Also have a Fri-Sat; Florida-Tampa trip in mid December. Out west, you have Avs/Sharks/Yotes spread out over the first week of January.
spndnchz Posted September 22, 2010 Author Report Posted September 22, 2010 Thanks for the suggestions. Keep 'm coming. How about the Arena's? Any cool one to see?
shrader Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Thanks for the suggestions. Keep 'm coming. How about the Arena's? Any cool one to see? In terms of arena, I'd avoid Denver if they actually play out there this year. The town is nice and all, but those were probably the most uncomfortable arena seat's I've ever been in. The rows are ridiculously close together and you need to be about 3 feet tall if you want to have any leg room at all. Detroit is a crappy city, but that's a fun arena to see a game in (again, don't know if the Sabres play there or not). It's old and kind of crappy too, but you could look at the ceiling for the entire game and be entertained the whole time.
MattPie Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Seeing a game in Philly is a treat. There is certainly some passion there, but it can be a bit misguided. I haven't had trouble myself, but I've seen Philly fans calling Sabres fans words you can't use on this board.

Claude_Verret Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 In all seriousness going to a game at the RBC Center is pretty cool. The arena itself is nothing special but it's right next to the NC state football stadium so it's in an area very conducive to tailgating. Of course the great tailgating space means there is absolutely nothing else to see or do near the arena, but you'll find plenty of friendly Sabres fans having a good time hours before puck drop. I think the Sabres play here twice late in the season again, so if March madness is your thing there will be opportunities to catch that in full swing as well.
spndnchz Posted September 22, 2010 Author Report Posted September 22, 2010 U know, I'm thinking of waiting until they do the "Sabres Road Crew". Maybe we go to the town they'll stop in?
SwampD Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver are on my bucket list. With Vansterdam being at the top of the list.

Calvin Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 U know, I'm thinking of waiting until they do the "Sabres Road Crew". Maybe we go to the town they'll stop in? That's not a bad idea. I was hoping they'd do Boston last year, maybe this year? Which playoff game were you here for? The gf and I were at that OT loss, and then had to take the train home right from North Station. During the hour we sat in the station I had to use tremendous amounts of restraint to not tear off the limbs of some B's fans and beat them over their heads with them. Grrr.
wonderbread Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Pittsburgh hands down! Less than 3 hours from Buffalo and not a bad drive at all. Brand new arena. Its sweet I just went last weekend. Usually a pretty good game with a knowledgable crowd as well. Unfortunatly the Pens have had the Sabres number as of late.

But 4 losing, it was a good game. Vanek's goal with a minute left ...
eball Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Come to Carolina in March. Great Rx to cure the winter blues...and it's fun to pillage and plunder at the RBC while eating babies.

My experience in Atlanta has been you can get good tickets from a scalper on game night for about 1/2 price. Nashville used to be the same way.....
rbochan Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Thanks for the suggestions. Keep 'm coming. How about the Arena's? Any cool one to see? The Scottrade Center in St. Louis kicks ass.

shrader Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 The Scottrade Center in St. Louis kicks ass. But their seats are really ugly. It seems to me like most of the newer arenas are pretty much the same. The newest of the new like the one in Pittsburgh may be different, but places like Scottrade, HSBC, and the Fleet Center (still refuse to call it the TD Garden) that were all built around the same time all seem to follow the same exact model. So if you're going for a roadtrip, I'd try to factor in atmosphere long before you factor in the building itself.
