[OT] Bills discussion

I'm guessing Ralph will swing a deal and trade franchises with the Ford family. Ralph gets his home town Lions, Parcells takes his buyout with the Dolphins and becomes president of Lions then they hire Bill Cowher as coach. Ford family then moves Bills to L.A. (or maybe worse, rehires Millen and keeps team in Buffalo where they do not win a game for next 3 years (except games in Toronto.))

I made 3 bucks on the game yesterday. I was at the NF Casino watching the game with my brother-in-law. When TE was sacked, I said NE is going to score a TD on this drive, against the wind. He said no-way. I bet him the 3 bucks I had sitting on the bar. My statement was this is the difference between a good team and a bad team.

5-1 and then 2-8 sheez..

Mangini was fired today.. Maybe just maybe Bill Cowher will take a job in Buffalo. Give him 15M a season... We'll have a Superbowl ring in two years.

I've finally figured out what the true definition of pwned is. Going 18-1, losing the Superbowl in the last minute, having your franchise QB going down to a season ending and career affecting injury in the next game and then going 11-5 and missing the playoffs... yeah, that's pwned... or priceless..

How lucky is SD? Have a truly horrendous season and still make the playoffs...

Baltimore is gonna destroy those fins.. I truly hate them. They are one of the most dangerous teams in the playoffs..

I keep checking TBD to see if the guillotine has finally fallen on Jauron's tenure, but keep getting disappointed. Three days of secret inner-circle meetings and they still cannot decide whether to bring Jauron back or not? Great idea, this front office-by committee approach.

Fact is, I am getting so disgusted by this that I am planning on canceling the Sunday Ticket package if Jauron comes back. As I said before - I live just outside Cleveland, so I can watch crappy football on Sundays for free. I know my brother has kicked around the idea of not renewing his season tickets if they don't make significant changes as well, and I have to wonder how many other people feel the same way and how much the season-ticket base will go down if Dick is retained.

I'm not sure what's more unbelievable, Cowher wanting to coach in Buffalo, Ralph actually paying him 15 million, or the fact that you think he would bring a SB trophy to Buffalo within two years. It took him 13 years to win it in Pittsburgh.

I just hope Dickie is gone. 3 years of his lousy coaching is more than enough.

I'm not delusional enough to believe that we have a shot at bringing Cowher in, but I do know that he was in the playoffs his first year as a HC, made the AFC Championship in his third season, has a SB win on his resume, missed the playoffs in just 5 of 15 seasons, and has a winning record in 10 of his 15 years as HC. I can stomach waiting for a SB if we made the damn playoffs once in a while.

Dick Jauron will return in 2009 - per WGR.

Unreal.

Awesome. Three more years of poorly coached teams and 7-9 records (if we're lucky).

Time to call DirecTV and cancel the automatic renewal of the Sunday Ticket plan.

Well I was kind of expecting it, considering it would be very unlike Wilson to eat a big extension, but it's still painful to hear.

I'd just like to point out one thing that truly annoys me: the notion that if the Bills move the fans are at fault. I think this idea has always existed under the table of conversation but was brought to the fold when Commissioner Roger Goddell said prior to this season that the Bills staying in Buffalo would depend on the passion of their fans. I'm sorry but if the Bills move when Wilson dies the last people Bills fans should be blaming is themselves. I've seen it discussed on other boards that fans feel obligated to buy tickets again next year, even after today's Jauron announcement, because they feel that the team will move for sure if they don't. In my opinion, Goddell's statement only is meant to coax fans into supporting a weak team until a move can occur or new local ownership steps in. It is nothing more than a ploy to sell tickets and merchandise and it is disgusting. A move by the Bills will only be because of more lucrative corporate and media dollars to be made in larger markets where potential owners have bigger pockets. It has nothing to do with the fans, or their passion. Sadly the NFL is now characterized by men like Jerry Jones rather than the everyman fans which pay big bucks to watch their teams.

Sorry for this rant and the fact that this topic was not discussed on this board recently. In fact, given the general intelligence of this board I would assume that most of you have already figured this out by now. But on a day like today sometimes a rant helps clear the head before a big hockey game.

The plan for the Bills is: Ralph Wilson is 90. He's going to pass on one of these years. Until he does, the team will be run like any rudderless organization that is run by a 90 year old.

Don't worry. Ralphie's in good company as a nonagenarian. Billy Graham's up there too with his son, "Frankie Goes to Hollywood", running the show now.

Good post. I'm thinking this example of guilting the fans isn't much different than what Bettman implied in remarks during the recent Sabres ownership crisis.

The Bills schedule is a LOT tougher next season. 5-11 or 6-10.

I may go to one game to sport the sign I made after hearing the news, "You Suck Dick Jauron".

You can hear the Champagne corks popping in Boston, New York and Miami. The Hoodie is already developing a play where the Center punts the ball against the Bills.

That is the sad part. The Bills had the one of the easiest schedules this year but next year they play the good divisions (AFC and NFC South). If only they would have split in there own division this year, they would have been in it.

Onto my rant:

Dick Jauron is not going to suddenly improve his game day decision making over the summer. He was kept on because Ralphie doesn't want to pay him to go away and then pay another has-been to come in. I do not have season tickets but I have been to atleast 1 game a year since 1995 with the exception of 2004 when I moved to VA. I am 27 and my dad had season tickets until 1996 so we started to go more often when I got older and he didn't have season tickets. I even thought about getting season tickets this year and going to a few games then selling the rest. I will still get the NFL Sunday Ticket as long as the Bills are in Buffalo but I am not going to go to another game at "The Penny Pincher" as long as Dick Jauron is the coach of the Buffalo Bills. I was planning on going to the Bills - Panthers game in Charlotte next year but I am not sure about that now. I cannot see how bringing Dick Jauron back is going to improve this team. The sad part is I think everyone knew that there was no way Ralphie was going to fire Jauron after he extended his contract a few months back but yet we all thought there was some hope with the utter collapse the down the stretch this year.

The Sabres could capatalize on the disillusioned Bills fans and move into the top spot in the hearts of Buffalo sports fans but they seem to be dropping the ball also.

Happy New Year to All

The Sabres point is a great one to make. Thay can capture this city if they would only get over their fear of trades. If they were to make a Drury type trade they could easily leap frog the Bills and stop playing second fiddle to one of the worst run franchises in pro sports.

If Atlanta and Miami can turn it around in one year, so too could Buffalo with the right coaching. The difference between good teams and bad teams isn't that great in the NFL. It's all about mojo. But it is all academic.. Dicky J is coming back.

So here is the phrase for the Bills in 2009..

Dick Jauron before he you..

I can only hope this spurs fans into not renewing their season tickets. Ralph needs to understand that his frugality and lack of vision is eroding his fanbase. If 50,000 season tickets are sold nest season, the point will be lost.

Ralph said in his release he already expected the ticket count to go down alot due to the economy so he isnt worried about that..LOL..I gotta tell you that I was a die hard for 16 years..I had Jim Kelly club seats for 8 years and before that sat in the endzones for 8 years. I had season tickets up till the lockout for the Sabres. I stopped paying for tickets for both teams because I felt I was being sold a false bill of goods..And I was..I have gone as far as hardly even watching either teams any more..I am not going to let them waste my time anymore..They might have lost my fanatism forever..Its hard to say you wont follow them if they ever show they care and turn there philosphies of running a team around but as of now I wont pay for either team and I am not going out of my way to watch either..I use to spend close to 10 grand a year on both teams...Now I wont give them a minute of my time..I am beyond discouraged I am just done getting sucked into them..

Yep...RW is already using the economy as an excuse for the inevitable backlash in the form of ST cancellations. I doubt it would help much, but if people do cancel, they need to be very clear with the account exec that the reason for the cancellation is RW's continued ability to do the wrong thing and hire the wrong people.
