There is something to be said it feels like the first season in a while that once the end of season grind gets underway, Buffalo isn’t one of those teams falling off a cliff. Really wonder what a full season of Anderson and Mittelstadt would’ve done.

We will try to sign Subban or Letang to something rich. They just might bite. We will throw money at Bergeron and Giroux but come up short. May way overpay for a Kadri or Strome and that’s okay. Cap floor no issue. Oloffson will be traded out or let go. Hinostroza kept around, but for nothing consequential Levi will go pro and all will be unicorns and rainbows. Anderson gets paid to come back just in case and for something rich. Cap space be damned.

Going to be honest I never fully understood why Myers was ran out of town. People got excited his rookie year and wanted him to be a 1D and he sophomore slumped. He’s still a fine 3/4D. Maybe Vancouver would trade him at the TDL for a retainer Miller and sweetener? They’d do it partially to get out of the cap hit for the following two years of contract. Myers has a NTC though and I’m not sure why her waive it.

You trade Oloffson. His next contract begins to get prohibitive to rookies expected to backfill right away You re sign Hinostroza for 2x2. You do this to not gift any positions to 3rd/4th line rookies. You also do this because the salary is high enough other teams will blink before claiming off of waivers. Bjork is in the same boat, he is competition but nothing you worry about paying being a cap floor team.

I give Granato benefit of the doubt for fifth string goalie nonsense and all the other injuries. He took a team that was completely lost and got them having fun. And it’s with a bunch of kids and players everyone else gave up on. Wins come next.

What teams have high cap hits they even want to dump? They’re all either key pieces or NMC similarly Buffalo has essentially nothing to trade. All it’s pieces are young promising players we need to stay patient with or pieces nobody wants. Edge case being a broken Miller. Any other player is a mistake to get rid of. I’m not even sure Okposo would accept a trade out if some team wanted him half off. About all we can do is accept a pick and a dump.
