  1. Draisaitl invisible tonight, they jumped the gun on that big contract. He is big but slow. I'm thinking the Reinhart bridge deal will provide tons of value compared to Draisaitl's huge payday. Jack and Sam will have a beer tonight smiling about spanking their draft peers.
  2. I liked watching Antipin as well, mistakes and all. I thought he would be a good fit in Housley's system and contribute offensively. I hope he has a good game, forcing their hand at keeping him in the lineup.
  3. This is an important game for the Oilers as they have 3 wins in a row and need many more to have a sniff at the playoffs. The Sabres need to embrace the spoiler role and rebuild their reputation one win at a time. Go Sabres!
  4. They worked hard and beat a good team. Jack wanted this badly and Risto was solid with the added ice time. Sam was knocked around but had some good moments. Johnson was solid. Nelson looked liked an AHLer, Baptiste like a 4th line NHLer. Larry has no speed and no hands. Gus is a 4th liner.
  5. He is with the Ontario Reign, the Kings' farm team. 26 points in 20 games, third in team scoring.
  6. Moulson's burning up the AHL in California, they may want him for playoff depth. Wishful thinking.
  7. Couture for ROR sounds good to me, he would look good on Jack's left side. Wasn't he a Sabres fan growing up? ROR could be the third bearded Musketeer. I wouldn't give Reinhart for Labanc either. I still believe in Sam getting back to last season's numbers.
  8. Not a fan of Kraken but there it is more likely to find a Kraken in Seattle than a Raptor in Toronto. It may grow on me of that ends up as the choice. Hail Hydra.
  9. Sounds like you would need to change your underwear after that one.
  10. This sounds like a good plan if Casey is in agreement. I think he enjoyed Buffalo during the WJHC and like most top prospects, can't wait to get paid to play hockey. He isn't a 4 year college guy. However, he has strong ties to Minnesota and could stay another year if JBot agrees. Casey played High School hockey last year out of loyalty to his friends and coaches. I think he turns pro this spring.
  11. I saw Cornel quite a bit in the OHL. He didn't dominate there at all. In his last season he was the go to guy for the Petes and put up some decent numbers but he did not impress me in any games. He was a top six player but not a star at that level.
  12. I don't believe he will be Moulson 2.0 because even if he loses a step he can still win a puck battle. He is way more physical and stronger on the puck. I do think the term is too long, and he will have to be spotted in and out of the lineup near the end of that contract. Moulson just did not have any compete left in him.
  13. Back then the majority of players in the league were Canadian. Our military contribution in the Cold War was never huge as we spend very little of our GDP on defense. We were heavily involved in early warning systems because the shortest distance to the USA was over the North Pole and through our air space. Those hockey battles were "war" because it was our game and these guys were trying to take over.
  14. This shows how tough predicting a draft can be. I believe 12 other teams passed on Bossy as well.
  15. I've been saying this for a while now. Waiting until the deadline to try and get maximum value risks having him get his annual 15-20 game injury and becoming untradeable. Then he leaves July 1st.
  16. Krokus covered Ballroom Blitz but the original is better.
  17. Ballroom Blitz was on my list. Another one I like is Nick Gilder Roxy Roller

  19. 17 year old Dahlin makes Swedish Olympic team. https://www.tsn.ca/dahlin-headlines-swedish-olympic-team-1.969273
  20. I just hate trading at a low point.
  21. The downturn seems to have been at this summer's development camp. The injury suffered there has affected him. I give him one more year before making a drastic move.
  22. The Avs are an example of a one year reversal. They've already surpassed last season's point total and are in the hunt for a playoff spot, just a few points behind, with games in hand. We've got nowhere to go but up.
  23. Even at the WJHC he was a perimeter player. He didn't hunt the puck down or seem to work hard. No engagement. Like I tell my son, do you want to watch things happen or make them happen.
  24. I've been a Sabres fan since '75 so I'm not changing. If they win in my lifetime it will be that much sweeter. I'll welcome the bandwagon jumpers aboard but make them aware of their status. I watch a lot of hockey and my son joins me for the occasional non-Sabres game. He always asks who I'm cheering for, so I end up picking some teams. I kind of have some secondary teams but they do not approach my affection for the Sabres. I have purchased other teams swag over the years, because I have often had non Sabres players as my favourites. For example, Joe Sakic was my favourite player for the length of his career so I had a Nordiques jersey and some Avalanche stuff. Most of my family are Habs fans and I do not regret "finding" my own team as a young man and sticking with them through thick and thin. I missed out on many Cups but feel a sense of independence.
  25. Keep it up Matty, maybe someone takes a chance on him for playoff depth. Retain some salary and take a 7th round pick.
